  • Steve vai and david coverdale. Possibly one of the greatest couples in rock :D

  • probably whitesnake's most metal song ever

  • 3:05-3:11 LOL...WTH?..just crazy! Vai was so wild back then!

  • One of the best melodic metal til now.

  • I see: Adrian Vandenberg & Steve Vai in the description ?

Someone surely would've post this before, but Adrian didn't record this song, due to a bicycle accident. he wrote the parts, but the recordings are ALL Steve Vai. Love the song anyway !!

  • 3:05 OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The guitar solo lacks that speed and overdriven sound

  • @skatecm1 and makes up for it composition wise.

  • @skatecm1

Doesn't lack rythm, doesnt lack speed, sometimes slow is good and requires more skill

  • slip of the JAW!!!More Like

  • Coverdale el puto amo del Rock!!

  • That opening riff...SWEET JESUS.

  • I wish this album had no vocals, John Sykes is Whitesnake in my opinion, I wish Vai named the record but I'll settle for the musical piece, beyond my comprehension no less in the lead department.

  • One of my favorite vai solos he is just incredible

how he is able play solos that are like songs

in themselves. All of the greats have that ability

to take songs to another better level..

  • サイクスニ比べてギターサウンドが軽い

  • A really badass song!

  • Killer lyrics and a great song, crank it.

On an' on, the road goes on, an' it'll go on forever

Time will show if you an' I will walk that road together

Through fire an' water, ice an' snow

Heaven above us an' Hell below

  • Goose bumps all the way;-)))))

  • vai is god

  • f@cking awesome!!!

  • "Wings Of The Storm" is one of my FAVs from "Slip Of The Tongue"!

  • 3:18 - just melted my face off.

  • Ala nos vemos en Judas Withesnake! \m/

  • I've known Whitesnake since I was 8 years old after hearing Bad Boys. Yet for some reason I just discovered this song today - what a awesome piece! Instantly one of my favorite songs ever. Agree with everyone here - INCREDIBLE!!

  • This song has a Bark at the moon"ish riff, but its a killer track, love the guitarwork.

  • One of the best songs ever made... enough said.

  • @QingLong90 I disagree:

THIS IS THE BEST SONG EVER BY FAR

  • I love this track its a great piece of work, the whole album is fantastic - but mine was stolen some years ago now and I never got another copy of it. So I'm glad these are on here as I'd never hear them otherwise :-(. INCREDIBLE

  • greatest ever

  • 3:17-3:30. Right there, that's my favorite part. Makes me think of a heroic melee, one guy kicking the crap out of 3-5 guys!

  • Best song on the album.Great guitar riffs.Love it!!!:D

  • One of the best tracks on the album. Driving hard rock. Great riff.

  • I dedicate this entire album to a lady called DIANA L.

  • @pcrvg0808 i love that name also dinah

  • the first album that a get from whitesnake was this album in 1990,and this is my favorite song in this album

  • the guitar solo is epic...fits the song perfectly

  • To think Coverdale didn't like this album when it came out, and Vandenberg said Vai's playing was inappropriate for this album. Bastard.

  • John Sykes is the nr 1 guitarist for Whitesnake, period. There`s guitarists and then there`s musicians :) Sykes doesn`t overplay one bit, always plays what`s best for the song. You can`t do it better than that.Technique isn`t everything, (Sykes has great technique, just listen to his alternate picking, smoking) and the power and the tone on the 1987 album is unsurpassed. Sykes is also one hell of a writer and a singer, check out his Blue Murder. Fucking awesome.

  • @pitbull73 totally agree .Vai is not the best for whitesnake but he did a great job in this album. But Sykes still remains the Legend ...

  • Hot

  • Sounds like The Bark and moon intro. Whitesnake great band.

  • This is fucking awesome! Best guitar solo ever!

  • @Sneixx this is THE guitar solo

  • "Adrian Vandenberg has revealed in several interviews he thinks Vai's flamboyant guitarplaying was somewhat inappropriate. He thinks a more bluesy approach would have suited the album better." - I think that Adrian Vandenberg is an idiot. Probably he was jealous at Steve because he couldn't even dream to play like Steve.

  • @TwistedMindCroatia I agree with vandenberg, even if the album is great..

if you've listened a lot to whitesnake, you know where there roots are, BLUES rock

  • @leppardsnake

I have their full discography and all in all(my opinion), Steve was the best guitarist that band ever had. Steve could play Blues Rock if you told him to, but knowing that the 1987 album was much heavier than any predecessor, it was logical to expect an album like Slip Of The Tongue. That album left so much influence on the band that now each and every song sounds about a thousand times heavier than the original. I appreciate Blues, but pure virtuosity I consider more important.

  • @TwistedMindCroatia ok, you are entitled to your opinion. He sure is a great guitarist. Yes, 1987 was much heavier and it was logical in a way that slip would be more so. But it was TOO much more so, in my opinion, which had not been the case if adrian would have played.

Steve is a gifted tehnical player. Absolutly wonderful, one of the best. But when it comes to the blues "feeling" he just does not cut it for me.. Just my personal opinion. Still it sure was a great album

  • @TwistedMindCroatia I agree with the conclusion a bit, but not for the same reasons : the blusesy Whitesnake is good, but 1987 had killed it dead already...

  • When Campbell left the band , VAnderberg thought he would be the lead guitar, but suddenly Coverdale hires Vai ; that upset Vanderberg; besides i remember reading somewhere that ,while the band was in Canada recording the album, Steve Vai was in LA recording guitars for the same album. He only joined the band fot the tour.

  • @imadownboy

I dont think it upset adrian.. He had to hire someone else due to adrians hand injury..

  • Yeah, great, good old stuff.

  • This song is always fun to play on guitar, they kick ass. I was a kid when this came out

  • This song kicks my arse every morning!!

  • Everything about this Band is Awesome Personified.

  • The best Line Up in History!! Fuckin Amazing Song!!

    Just Epic!

  • el mejor solo de una cancion que he escuchado, maestro

  • 3:18 to 3:22....wow! Vandenberg and Vai were the best!

  • @mvp1848

You know that only Steve Vai recorded the guitars on this album?

  • @TwistedMindCroatia I do remember that now that you mention it. I think Vandenberg had some problem with his hand during recording. The live version on Monsters of Rock sounds good though and he was back by then.

  • i think the 1987 album is even better

  • @erickmarino Yeah, the self-titled is pretty damn bad-ass!

  • Thats a fuckin amazing Song... the Voice, the Guitar, the Solos, the Riffs... perfect.

  • Gunslinger Stunt Guitarist (Vai, via Zappa,) fills in for Adrian on this album! Vandenberg was injured and could not get the tracks finished. Solidarity, Shredders!!

  • one of the top 5 guitar solo in history... just mind blowing

  • Some die-hard metal fans, consider Whitesnake as posers. Well, if it's true, so be it, I don't give a shit 'cause I-fuckin'-like them!!

  • @evermetal2 these guys arent posers. they are gods. listen to this intro!!!! epic!!!!! this album didnt make it bc of his hair. it was SSOOOOO much ore than that

  • @Gnrfan04396 You don't have to tell ME about it. Tell it to some narrow-minded people who think of them as such.

  • Vandenberg wrote all the songs for this album but couldn't play because he got wrist injuries. This is Vai all over the place. But what a solo!

  • @ajaxrules1975 they co-wrote the music for the songs (coverdale and adrian).

Besides fool for your loving was written by the moody/marsden/coverdale-trio in the late 70's

  • @leppardsnake I know buddy.

  • Steve Vai .. a guitar best in class

  • @gugahtube Sykes better ... had better sound and way more FEEL ... This was a great album, though, don't care what anyone says!

  • Vai and Vandenberg were both lead guitars?? 3:18 = total orgasm... @,@

  • EXCELLENT Whitesnake song...this song often reminds me of Highlander!

  • Amazing song just listen those rifs..steve vai is a god..whitesnake forever!!

  • I love these guys, always have.

To me it's the ultimate lovesong!!!

    Thanks for the lyrics....x

  • The best song of Whitesnake and Vai!

  • great album

  • It's got Steve Vai so no wonder....

  • steven557

    are you stupid?

if you think this you are stupid, this song is the best guitar with the best singger

  • this is a badass album, idk what anyone says, killer songs on this one they rock and are metal and straight rip. gotta love it if yer a guitarist

  • greatest song ever

  • Fire and Water, Ice and Snow...

That part gets me every time

  • VAI ROCKS!

  • Steve vai should come back to WS

  • Steve Vai cant back to whitesnake

  • why?

  • because he is in his own band and because steve vai doesnt want play in a band like Whitesnake or Deep purple he wants play in a band that only are solos

  • @12345678910111213735 Not only solos. Goodness, it's called instrumental!

  • Good but sailing ships is better

  • Love it. Hate frigging Glam though.

  • THE BEST FRIGGIN' GLAM METAL SONG IN THE HISTORY OF EARTH!

This song also sounds a little like "Stardust Speedway: Good Future" (North American version) from Sonic CD.

  • dragonforce should go to hell with their gameboy color music..

  • This was the line up of the friggin ages: Steve Vai & Adrian Vandenberg on guitar, Rudy Sarzo on bass, and Tommy Aldridge on drums with Coverdale singing his ass off as always. GREAT album.... You cannot get a legendary line up like that.

  • Sure you can,Chickenfoot!

With that said,I MISS THIS WS LINEUP.

DAVE ,MY MAN WHAT DID YOU DO??

  • @JiMdOgG070679 ..VAi was a terrible fit for Coverdale.......He's a guitar God,but not with the bluesy style that Sykes grought to the band

  • @trevLV Steve Vai was brought in for that reason. DC wanted a new sound to break the bonds of the blues rock thing.

  • @trevLV sykes brought to the band?

    please..

who are the real blues players in the bands history?

bernie marsden, micky moody, and mel galley.

they diverted from that somewhat with sykes, but even more with vai, yes.

vai is not a bluesy player, wouldnt say sykes is a bluesy player either to, but to some extent I suppose.

  • @JiMdOgG070679 yeah sorry BUT the Vai lineup from 86-88 was the BEST!

Steve vai, Billy sheehan, greg bisonette & DAVID (LEE ROTH) not coverdale singing.

Rudy, tommy & vivian were not even on the 87 tape. but most people saw them in the videos & were

giving them credit for the songs. whitesnake has had too many lineup changes, its become Blacksabbath.

white snake = the David coverdale Band.

  • @MetalHeart8787 Fuckk Noooo!!!! David Coverdale is better singer than david lee roth... i agree with you with billy sheehan but... C'mon... Coverdale has a more powerful voice Than Roth...

David Coverdale > David lee roth

  • I'll bet I listened to this cassette tape 5,000 times back when it was first released! (Now to get it on cd!)

  • In the "Slip of the Tongue " Tab book THEY LEFT OUT THIS SONG!!!! I have to try to figure this crap out!!!!

    ARRGGH

  • Good luck with 3:18-3:25!

  • Plus I want to sing it,lol!

  • play,maybe...

    sing,hardly...but with practice who knows...good luck,anyway :)

  • ha! they left this song outta the book for a reason. nobody should be able to play this amazing solo unless they are good enough to work it out for themselves, and then they deserve to be able to play it. no cover versions of this solo on here i notice. wonder if i will be the first to do it. in another 2 years when i figure that part out haha

  • whitesnake siempre tiene en sus filas grandes guitarras como sykes y vivian campbell este ultimo opacado en def leppard

  • love that very short solo
