  • China Town by Van Halen it kind of sounds at the end nice video

  • Do you need to set up your amp in a certain way

  • that was awsome!

  • Im a beginner can you make a video about all the basics????!!!!

  • By the way badass guitar

  • Thx I tried after I watched works great

  • I love how it starts sounding badass as he gets faster!

  • thats a small guitar

  • very informative man, cheers:)

  • Incredible Video Man, Now I get to show off to my friend lol

  • That Was Dopeeee! You Made It So Easy! Thank You!

  • OMFG I CAN FINGER TAP <3 IM BUZZING I LOVE YOU no homo YOU HAVE NO DISLIKES FOR A REASON.

  • Thanks man, i finally got how to finger tap!

  • thanks man! your great with instructions!!

  • thank you so much! you really helped me... :).

  • u know for the hammer ons does it matter what kind of amp you use and the types of effects?

  • could you do a more complicated finger tap please? Like one that uses more fingers

  • at the end of the vid, some little kid yells your gay

  • Wow that really helped! You who cant tap yet, its not about slamming it with power, you need to learn a technique which works best for you

  • Good lesson - cleared a few things up definitely. Here, do you know how to do the solo of In Too Deep by Sum 41? I have looked on youtube but nobody seems to do it with the full finger tapping thing...

  • Thanks!

  • This might not make a lot of sense but in slow it sort of goes,

ding....ding...ding... like that however when I gradually increase my speed and go really fast it ends up sounding like,

ding ding ding ding ding ding

Lol basically it sounds like I miss the last hammer on because I am going fast, does this matter or is that how its meant to be, if not any tips would be great!

  • @andrew3327820 That depends. Does it sound good when you do it?

  • @lH0VA Sort off it just does not sound the same.

  • holy shit thats pretty sick new to guitar heard and seen it before wanted to know you totally cleared that up imma subb

  • @HatersMakeMeFAMAS glad i could help

  • lol at 1:00 "ur gay"

  • @StoneyJoker57 ya lol my little brother was playing Xbox in the other room

  • thanx! It helped a lot!

  • Thanx it helped a lot! Take care.

  • thanks man this helped alot!! :)

  • its :D epic

  • Pretty suite.

  • thank you your awesome

  • to all the new guitarists... i have a cheap musicians friend guitar, and numerous times i've tried finger tapping on it without success, i was finding myself smashing my finger down on the string just to get a sh!tty tapping sound..you get on here and they do it so easily and you get jealous.... if you cant do it its not because of the amp and its not you,,, you may need a more expensive guitar. cause i played my friends les paul and i could do it soo easily. usually guitars under 300$ cant.

  • @MrBowchikawowwow isnt necessesarily tru. its all about technique, but electric and distortion do help

  • hey dude, you just made very easy to learn it, congratulations for this vid!

    see you!

  • my guitar teaches uses this guitar....its epiphone lespaul rite???

  • @kaustubh10000 actualy its the gibson model, i was orgininaly going to get the epiphone because the gibson was to expencive but i got it for like 400$ off because it had been in the store for like 2 years and he just wanted to sell it.

  • @Ironman6464 400 $ a gibson Les Paul !! wtf ! i wanted it =(

  • @Ironman6464 400 $ a gibson Les Paul !! wtf ! i wanted it =(

  • @Ironman6464 shooot, good deal. I got a tele for 300 for the same reason haha

  • @Ironman6464 I have that guitar in sunburst :D

  • @Ironman6464 dude do i have to know scales to play this

  • you have to make sure you pull of hard enough

  • Nice work

there are professionals on here that take 10 minutes to explain it....and then I still don't know how to tap....I come across your video and within a minute i know how to tap. Good teaching method :)

  • it hurts my finger so i just use my pick, and it really helps

  • how hard do you have to tap it? it seems that when i tap it sounds muffled and i can't hear it very well.

  • @TheNightParade im not sure why you cant hear it vey well but ill try to help, make sure that you have all the volume knobs on your guitar turned up to 10 and make sure that the volume on your amp is decently loud. and its not so much that you have to tap hard, try "flicking" the string a little harder, let me know if this helps

  • @Ironman6464 yeah that helped a bit, but it could also have a lot to do with the fretboard since having taller frets helps with hammering and stuff. and having the gain turned up all the way helps too. thanks man

  • @TheNightParade because you need to put your volume and gain up.

  • thanks for the lesson. helped alot!!!

  • nice les paul, you should get a zakk wylde les paul,

I got a les paul custom skyblue

  • NICE ! I wish i could tap like you man !

  • hello. ima beginner. but for some reason when i try to tap, i notice that i have to tap it really hard, like slamming my finger or pick into the fret board. and its my first guitar. and when i watch other videos i notice that people just kinna like lightly tap it. and when i do tap. the sound is quiet and isnt loud enough. so what do ya think it is, my pickups, strings, or amp. btw, i got a dean vandetta, it came with a bundle, with the amp and everything. so please reply to this. thanks. lol.

  • @fatface211 ya im not 100% sure why its doing that but ill give it my best guess, it might be your amp because i looked at a package deal on musicians friend and it only had a 10w apm, which is fine if your a begginer and just learning how to play, but youll want to get somthing bigger if your planning on making it a lifelong hobby. try "flicking" the string a little harder and dont try to hammer on as hard. and just start our slow, start at a easy pace that sounds good, let me know if this help

  • @fatface211 it is far easyer when u have electric. and even eaasier when u put on distortion. finger tapping is mainly a rock or metal technique so u should try distortios. it will help

  • THANKS MAN !!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Will starting by doing stuff like this eventually lead to .youtube.com/watch?v=1PS8t9jrccU around 2:40 with a lot of hard work / determination?

  • So THATS how its done!

Look out Van Halen! Theres a new sheriff in town

  • Thanks for this man, this is really helpful.

  • when you get faster pretty nice

  • dude u are awesome, i saw an improvement the first time i tried. thnx so much dude. im gonna go rub it in my friends face now hahaha

  • Thats how you tap

  • Lol at the end "THATS GAY!"

  • Haha yeah. I will only play for like 10 seconds and my fingers will start killing me.

  • i just started tapping and im very very slow at it and it actually hurts my fingers quite a bit, how do i get faster and will my finger just stop hurting the more i do it?

  • @MrJackaroo123 ya just go as fast as you can go without messing up and eventualy you will go faster but dont go any faster than what you can go with out messing up. and ya because your fingers arnt used to moving like that they will hurt for a little bit but it will get better. just keep on practicing

  • @MrJackaroo123 try appyin a small ammount of super glue on ur fingers as a make-shift callask

(lol remember to let it dry first)

  • Thank you im learning howw to play the guitar and this is very good to me... And is very easy to do the finger tap fast Thank you again

  • i can finger tap,but not fast,how can i get speed?

  • Practice

  • @XxKiDhoxX Practice alot and eventualy it will come to you. if you can do it slow then do it slow. go as fast as you can go with out messing up. and then stay at that speed. then gradualy as you get better youll find youself playing faster

  • your awsome :) i get it lol thanks

  • hmm it is easy!

  • Sounds like an Ocarina song from Zelda.

  • thank you so much thanks to you i learned how to finger tap!

  • thx soo much, every1 else who has videos doesnt teach. niiiicceeee

  • colts lost the super bowl

  • @killakid443 Really smart one?

  • @killakid443 ya i was depressed. payton manning choked and threw and interception like he always does. makes me so mad

  • holy that is easy thanks

  • dude your a beast

  • thanks! :D

  • thanks man, this really helped!

  • Wow man you are amazing thank you so much

  • thanks dude u leard me how to finger tap

  • ok thanks, what you are doing is effective.

what Gue. did was to hammer onto (behind) the fret with second finger of the right hand, then, pull off from the string with the finger of the left hand-which is slightly different

  • amazing! I now know how to tap strum! Thank you!

  • interesting, did you play the note "first "(with finger) then hammer on?

It can aslo be done hammer on string first, the other way around

  • @Guevaristas ya i played the note "first" with finger then hammer on. i just though it was easier for me to tap this way. both ways work the same i just like this one better

  • yea thought so, great vid. have tried it here, takes a while to get use to, but it\s ok

  • there seems to be some "wah" element whenever people tap fast... any theory to that?

  • @Applefan1995 ya i would say that there is some "wah" element to it. if your listen real carful to where i start taping faster you can kinda hear when the sound changes around 54 secs.

  • Thanks for that. Very helpful! And very fast.

  • thankyou , this is going to be very helpful for band tryouts

  • Very helpful lesson, thx!

Maybe You'd have done better if you showed some other riffs for more examples.

    Greetz

    Desmo

  • Thanks very simple kudos!

  • Awesome vid! Thnx dude !:)

  • thank that was very helpful. god i love youtube.

  • thanks alot man. youve been playing long enough that u should be able to get it.

  • this helps alot..thanks man

  • Thanks a lot for the help, all I gotta do is practice :]

  • ya practice, practice practice its how u get better

  • Hey ironman does your gibson have active humbuckers on it? Cause i am wondering whether its better to have active or passive for tapping?

  • i have active humbuckers. and its worked for me. im not sure which one is better sorry.

  • osome now i'm like the best guitar player in my shool

  • I've worked on finger tapping for about a month and I'm getting pretty good.

  • Gibson^^

  • come to think of it, isn't there a way when finger tapping to use a pick??? just curious...

  • ya u can actualy use your pick instead of your pointer finger on your right hand, i find it eaiser to hold my pick with my middle finger and tap with my pointer but some people prefer to use a pick

  • you rule you rule you rule!! it doesnt sound so great at first, but when it goes faster, sounds f***ing awesome! Again, YOU rule!

  • thanks a lot man glad i could help

  • lol...theirs a kid noise

    btw nice video!!

  • you own i bow down to you thank you

  • OMG I WANT THAT GUITAR SOOOOO BAD

  • o i know i love this guitar so much i got a good deal becaues it was setting in gutiar center for like 2 years and know one had bought it, is had a little bit of discoloration on the neck and a small chip on the back of it so i got it for really cheap. and its awsome, only problem is that it gets dirty really easy because its white.

  • how much u got it for

and gow dirty does it get

  • yo iornman6464, when i tap fast, how come i dont get that fast sound, i get a small sound

  • umm well im not sure exatically what the problem might be, maby its because your not hitting the string hard enough or it might be because your rythem is off and your hammering on faster than what your "fliking" try workign on thoes things and if it doesn't work let me know

  • ok thanks man

  • cheers mate basic but still thanks : D

  • hey man i watched some of your skate vids they pretty cool, just wondering (because of your username) do you like to swim. I swam on my highschool team last year, its so hard but for some reason i love it.

  • yep love my swimming :D, but of course im not actually pro :L

  • when i try to do the hammer on it doesnt work. could someone help me?

  • just try hitting the string harder and try to hit as close to the fret as possible without hitting the fret.

  • It just takes practice man. Once i was playing the guitar for about a year and a half i could finger tap pretty well. With the guitar it just takes patience and lots of practice so dont give up.

  • thanks a lot, this really helped :)

  • thanks...this help alot...

  • glad to help

  • when your tapping with your pointer finger, I always find I hit the other strings , do you flick it down or up cuz when i flick down idk it sorta hits the bottom string, help maybe?

  • try using your pointer finger on you left hand to mute the first string. and just work on using a little less "flick" when you finger tap. if this doesn't help just let me know.

  • thx, i needed to no how to tap for the song im learning. (hallowed be thy name- iron maiden)

  • ya thats a sweet song

  • thx man i thought i could never finger tap.

  • THANKS!

  • very happy to help =)

  • Well, I am young and I have never played a guitar, except guitar hero! I am getting a guitar and i was wondering how long does it take to reach you skill level?

  • well ive been playing for about 4 years now but if you tried really hard you could probibaly get there in 3. and it all depends if your a nutural like some people i know it might not even take that long.

  • KK thanks, there is a store in a town where I live, i m going to go in there and get one the perfect size for me!

  • It took me like 3 months....I learn myself.....but I dont know...... I think it depends how much enthusiasm you have, and if you really like playing the guitar and maybe a good teacher......

  • ya finger tapping in itself could take 3 months or so. i was saying it could take 3 to 4 years to aquire all my other skills ive acumilated. which are nothing compared to some people

  • awesome video thanks man

  • glad i could help

  • You need to practice more, you kinda suck ass

  • Wow well if that sucking then i'd love to see what good looks like.

  • awsome vid man!

first lesson ive seen thats actually told me to flick the string, finally got some sound outta the thing XD

    THANKS!

  • ya thats the main reason i put this vid on here because none of the other ones explain it the easy way that i'm showing you. Very Glad To Help, thanks for watching!!!!

  • it's a little harder of doing all pulloffs...

  • yes the pulloffs are a little bit harder. but keep on practicing and it will come.
