your videos are great, thanks for the tips. the only problem i have with them is there's a lot of similar music in them all. i understand you won't have tracks for every genre though, as you're probably just using stuff you're working on at the time and you get a lot of similar work. would like to see some more harder rock/punk or dance music if you ever can though :D
Thanks Graham, for the tutorial on how to pan the harmonies R/L and down the middle. I have always wnated to know how do the get that harmony effect.
I love what you're doing and have learned a lot already. I would like to know how you would take on a track with maybe 5-part harmony?? would you just pan them all hard L/R?
can you take a look at some of my videos and give me some pointers on how to mix like you..... you have a great sound... please help... it would be very much appreciated thanks again!!
I have a question for you, this sounds amazing but can you make a similar effect in a live show on a live mixing console? cuz I don't think you can "copy/paste" a track of him because it's live
@SWATPhantom Yes, even in mono. His vocal tracks are in mono as well. What it sounds like he has done is shift one (or both) of the tracks in time to eliminate phase cancellation, which you would likely encounter in a live setting, unless you could put a delay on one of the busses.
@DaStyleRecordz Yes, I mix for a good part in mono till I have my EQ, compression, and volume faders just right. Then of course you flip back to stereo to finish things out and finalize panning. Mono mixing is just a hack, a tool to help me mix better. Not the way I finish a mix.
OMG...GRAHAM..you are the MAN. please tell me how I can reach on a more consistant basis? If I need Tips, where do I go for a quicker response from you?
@nikar0 It's an unreleased song. But the artist is Annie Lawrence and she's currently raising money to go into the studio for a new EP. Search her on Kickstarter . com
Graham! I'm so thankful for what you are doing, bro! God bless you! AND, this is planting seeds, I pray. Question: Where can we buy this song/album???
I agree with Scotty. Awesome series, and enjoying it muchly. But I can hear pitch shifting in some vocal takes, to an extent that makes it fairly noticeable, even within mix. In case you were wondering...
I love the series mate, but I can't help but noticing that the vocals always sound... unnatural. What mics do you use? Or have they been melodyne'd at all?
Man this series has been great. I have for a while had a basic idea of how to get around my DAW and understand the general concept of EQs, delays, reverbs, etc. but now I'm getting here some really easy, excellent, and most importantly practical uses for all those plugins and my stuff has never sounded better.
her sound like Taylor Swift

@SWATPhantom You could send the vocals to a spare bus and pan the busses hard left/right in a live setting.
medic192575 2 months ago
@medic192575 even if it's mono?
I don't quite understand because i watched your video "Instant double technique" and you first doubled the guitar and pan it and it sounded the same
