Both in exile from Marvel Comics and trying to get justice for the stuff they created while working for 'em... While we're at the trivia game, one of the first appearances of Sergio Aragones's "Groo" was in the back of an issue of "Destroyer Duck." Probably the Mark Evanier / Jack Kirby connection at play there.
Aye, Evanier was writing for Thundarr at the time. Evanier saw some samples of the Groo pages in Aragones files and encouratged him to have it put in the Destroyer Duck book. The character went down well and Aragones asked Evanier to write a book with him and it went on from there.
Actually, Alex Toth designed the three main characters on Thundarr... Kirby designed the rest! Side note: psychedelic indie cartoonist Jim Woodring was one of the schlubs doing inking and coloring and stuff for Kirby during his time at Ruby-Spears (producers of "Thundarr").
Elliot - Jack Kirby did the character designs on Thundarr the Barbarian ;)
Jersey Gods #1 to me felt like a set up issue but it moved a hell of a lot more than a bendis story....and you can NEVER have too many Kirby inspirations ;)

Oh, and comics legend Steve Gerber wrote that cartoon. All three of 'em no longer with us...

And Kirby worked with Gerber on the Destroyer Duck benefit around the same time!

That's what I thought, or was it Alex Toth?
I've heard it both ways. In any case, I loved that show as a kid and I have all the action figures Toynami released a couple years ago.
