as a beginner can you start of with a classicl nylon or should you start off with a steel string acoustic ?

I'm enjoying learning this song. For a couple of the positions I use my thumb to catch the base note instead of my index finger. If you ever have a moment would you mind telling me the Title of the song? I believe you said it was done by Gary Moore?
