  • Never been a big fan of healthy food, honestly ~ especially lentlil soup, but this recipe is awesome. Chili-pepper, necessary! Kick it up! Woo!

  • @CuteCatFaith *Ann

  • @CuteCatFaith I agree. That is cute. I feel like a pest as well. I can't believe how gracious Mary Anne is.

  • @nmilligan77 Yeah, she is smart. She knows a lot of us by first name and is very polite. Besides good content, there is a really pleasant ambiance on this channel. I look forward to buying a trad copy in print of her new cookbook. You know, I am a former chef's assistant, and she manages to show us great technique and yet not be pedantic. I don't mind being lectured but these clips are so short and fun. She slips in the technique quietly.

  • @nmilligan77 Nicole! Not a pest ever! I love your messages. Give Vini a hug for me!

  • @slobomotion I hear you about the boring factor of lentils. We're not French, but my mom made them ALL THE TIME when I was a kid, and I wasn't nuts about them. But, this looks flavorful.

  • @nmilligan77 Yeah, we all know they are good for us but wow they are boring. Mary Ann has a cold lentil salad dish up, with mustard, which is a stone winner. We were gulping it down! Lentils!!

  • You make this very much like I usually do. The only difference is I use Italian seasoning and garham masala and add collard greens or kale. I made it last week and also added some chopped cilantro just because I had to use it up. I figured, why not? It's soup, use your leftovers, right?

  • @Perroquet51 Yummy! That sounds delish Marc! Thank you for sharing. I hope all is well with you. Thanks for coming by!

  • I think it is cute that someone here apologizes for being a commenting nuisance, wow, can I relate. I enjoy the comments and ambiance here besides the excellent content. I have to agree with a commentor here, adding a bit of sweet and even a little balsamic vinegar, why not? I try to really limit things I add when I am not sure. Less is more. I put a sugar cube in the chicken soup yesterday and the whole soup bloomed as never before. Enough for 20 people from one chicken! xo Uprated.

  • @CuteCatFaith coming from southeast asia, msg was always added to most dishes. Now that i'm more informed...i use sugar as substitute for what wonder that msg could do to a dish.

  • @CuteCatFaith P.S. actually that is my secret for almost all my dishes [sugar]...i want to talk more but i have to go to michaels to buy more threads for my crochet projects and more patterns for doilies...talk to you soon.

  • @NingasKugon09 When I learned to cook Asiatic in NYC in the '80s I was surprised how much sugar got used. We can use a little honey or other stuff if refined white sugar is not our thing. A big chicken soup I just made, you guessed it, the secret ingredient to success was ... a sugar cube! The whole soup bloomed, about 12 quarts of it. What an aroma, and the leftovers, which were few, got used to make ... green beans! xo

  • @CuteCatFaith That sounds like a great idea Lisa. I will have to try that.

  • it's such a cold morning here and that looks sooooooooo welcoming! delish :D

  • @TheGlitteryDragon Thanks! Have a great week!

  • I know I have become a commenting nuisance but this looks so good. I still go to the grocery store and pick up ingredients for you recipes and say, "Let's make this guys," LOL.

  • @edhunley I comment here a lot, too. Mary Ann is very gracious and I think she likes that the ambiance here is very good.

  • @CuteCatFaith I like watching a good chef with a kind heart... No air or whatsoever, fame and popularity does not make her conceited...been watching her more than a year or two and she has not changed at all. She's always been kind, cheerful and willing to share anything to her viewers.

  • @NingasKugon09 Thank you! That was very sweet. Have a great week!

  • @CuteCatFaith I do!

  • @edhunley Ed! Never! I love your comments. Thank you very much for all your support!

  • Love me some lentils. Never thought of the honey or balsmic vineger which both I am sure would add delish to it for sure.

  • @cozzyk It really adds a lot. Thank you very much for coming by!

  • I love lentil soup!

  • @weeknightingale Me too! Thanks for coming by!

  • Winter finally decided to pay us a visit, and this soup looks better & better! We'll try it soon!

  • @SmokeyGoodness Great Dan! I hope it comes out perfect for you! I also hope you are getting better and better! Thanks!

  • Thanks to your mustard lentil salad recipe, lentils are back in our lives and there are no frowns. I had totally run out of ideas about what to do with them! The French eat plain cooked lentils a lot during the week and they are not very exciting. Uprated.

  • @slobomotion Thanks Lisa! This is really, really good. I hope you guys like it!

  • lentil soup, my favorite soup!

  • @martegod One of mine as well! Thank you for watching!

  • So glad you have lots of vegetarian options on your website! The past couple months we became vegetarian so I have been trying lots of new recipes, and I will definitely try this one! Thanks!

  • @mzzrandomnessful1221 You are welcome! I am happy you like it. Thanks for coming by!

  • Mmmmm I bet that touch of honey makes it taste extra wonderful. Sometimes I add diced yams and a smidge of maple syrup to my vegetable soup. Delish! ; P

  • @Pippilly Yum! That sounds great! Thanks, as always, for coming by!

  • Great soup. I am really big into healthy vegetarian soups. My only concern regarding this soup is that it takes a long time to cook. I prefer to finish any cooking within one hour maximum. Thats partly due to my own patience but also due to the fact that I like to cook alone and I have to share a kitchen at present.

  • @Stevethesearcher I know what you mean! I hate sharing the kitchen...I am also sharing kitchen...which i had my own,

  • @mzzrandomnessful1221 Sharing a kitchen is terrible. You have to get in and out like a commando raid. I try to get everything done in 30 minutes. Thats usually all the time I have. Its not good for my cooking but thats just the way it is. If I had a kitchen all to myself I would be cooking all the time.

  • @Stevethesearcher I've had to share kitchens many times and didn't like it, either. Getting a crock pot in the States helped a lot. I ended up with two at yard sales. I wish they had them here in France. I found the crock pot versatile and safe. I worked long hours and let it do its thing on the low setting with no worry.

  • @Stevethesearcher Hey Steve! I think Lisa's suggestion is a great one. A crock-pot could be your solution. You just take up a small corner of the kitchen and can make this and many other dishes that need more cooking time. Thank you for watching!

  • Thank you always because of your recipes. . Happy new year and thank you again.

  • @154arturo You are welcome! Happy new year to you too! Thank you for all your support!

  • YAY!!!!!

  • @catWmagick Thank you! I appreciate it!

  • This looks so warm and tasty! I'll have to try this - the honey and balsamic flavors sound delicious :)

  • @AsianCookingmadeEasy Hey Lila! It really makes all the difference! Thanks for watching!
