4.8i is nice but anyone who's planning to buy new X5 is better off buying diesel version. It's almost as fast as this one, gets 2x better mileage and cheaper as well.

@chefalan23 no you mean to say the new 5.0 vs the m3. m3 set the bar and then it took ford almost 4 years to upgrade the mustang so that it can get CLOSE, not on m3s level. By now bmw has probably already created a new m3 that can destroy the 5.0 and then it will take ford another 4 years to upgrade their 5.0 to come near the m3s performance. and the cycle will start again and guess what bmw will always be on top. you get what you pay for

@HPISAVAGE11 I have to disagree with you on that. The 5.0 is still in its first year of production. It hangs with the m3 while having a solid rear axle, so something to be said for that. Just wait a year or so till the 5.0 has direct injection and a revised suspension. Give credit where credit's due instead of bashing a car that costs 15 grand less and still manages to compete.

@chefalan23 i give more credit to bmw because they are the ones who set the bar for most car makers to follow. the m3 has a perfect balance of handling and power and only needs a 4.0L v8 to make about the same hp as the 5.0 that says a lot about bmw right there. it even hits 0-60 faster and its not even designed to go fast in a straight line like the m3. im pretty sure if you were to test drive both cars and had a choice to choose between both you would pick the m3

@HPISAVAGE11 the bmw is NOT faster 0-60, they're actually dead even, and quarter mile the mustang has a faster ET and a faster trap speed. the mustang has better low end and midrange torque, so if you drove both cars back to back you would see where that extra liter of displacement is going. Also the mustang matches (if not SLIGHTLY exceeds) the M3's skidpad and figure 8 stats. as far as overall quality is concerned you get what you pay for. I cant afford an M3, thats why i own a mustang

people who think mercedes is better than BMW are retarded. benz is too pricey and are made in the US/China whereas BMW's are still manufactured in germany...I've personally driven the mercedes e63 amg, and m5 and m5 is soo much better to drive, mercedes tries to come out on top by inserting extremely powerful engines into its AMG cars without finding the real balance whereas for BMW, it feels perfect.

I absolutely agree! Mercedes and Audi both try to come out on top by bringing in more powerful engines but at the compromise of perfect balance. The TopGear comparison between M3, C63 AMG and Audi RS4 is a good example of this fact. BMW is STILL Munich's finest export. End of story.

Any Mercedes doesn't handle as poorly are you're trying to hint it. They're flat and grippy, at least most models. Their interiors are excellent, and many new BMWs are pricier or just as expensive as the MB competitor. Why buy a muscle car when you can enjoy engineering and luxury like few others can match?

You are wrong both cars have they're ups and downs generally Audi, Mercedes, Bmw are always balanced between each-other. It depends which models to compare also your comment about how mercedes are built in the US/China doesn't matter Mercedes always have the most reliable cars in the world and really shows it with their 30 year warranty.

look how it handles in the slalom...there is no body roll from a 5000lbs SUV...it handles like an Evo (impreza got understeer and this doesn't) BMW really is the ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE..you get the space and safety of a SUV but the handleing and speed of a decent sport saloon...what more would you want from a car? you speed,safety,handleing,comfort­,7 seats and a BMW badge...awesome..blows the Q7,XC90 and Cayenne to hell
