A 130 volt filament is thinner than 120 volt filament (break 2 bulbs and compare). This means less resistance to surges and spikes in electrical current. A 130 volt bulb produces 28% less light than a 120 volt bulb while consuming 18% less energy; 130 volt bulbs are a poor value.
The better choices are the Philips 95 watt halogen (sku 189927) and 55 watt halogen (sku 189426). Excellent light quality & a long 2,500 hour life (2 to 3 years in a home).
