Lzerf4rt's kinda right. yesterday i talked about it with my father and we've been left with one conclusion: if there was no-one knowing ASM, who would write IDEs, compilators, debuggers? and if everyone forgets ASM people will have to discover new machines that understands new languages... and old machines will simply die.
Don't underestimate assembly language. You may not need to write it, but for debugging purposes, it is invaluable to understand it. Once you join the real world of programming for a living, it can make the difference between shipping a product and not.
If everyone tries to move further and further from assembly, nobody will ever ship a product, and you can forget about the robotics of tomorrow.
