Always loved this track -- great sound from Mangione on his horn (a flugelhorn I think -- sounds like what Miles Davis played on Miles Ahead) and the rest of the band is tight -- one of those tunes that makes you feel good (hence the title).

No it's actually just a stand alone jazz piece that was written in 78. It was actually a pretty big hit. I hope the fact that this song is on this soundtrack will expose it and to a younger audience, and make people want to seek out more Chuck Mangione.

It's actually not a trumpet. It's a flugelhorn. I know, who cares? But a flugelhorn is closer to the sax family. If you listen carefully, you can hear this. Just saying.

Yup. If you 'unroll' the two instruments the length of a trumpet and flugel horn are the same. It's the difference in diameter of the two horns that makes the flugelhorn sound mellower and a bit 'deeper.'

My father hated CM, because he always thought the horn sounded flat compared to a trumpet. His loss. ;o)
