I love this idea made a few real simple and easy but started thinks so I took 2 hair ties and used the bush bar technique turned out great!!! thanks JD!!!!!
@everything102030 lol its like um well say you made a regular paracord bracelet such as a cobra stitch then it dint fit you so you unwind the bracelet and its all wrinkly and weird thats recycled paracord
The problem with this is that when you stretch the bracelet over the wrist it gaps the two disconnected ends unless you leave it fairly loose (which i do not think looks as good. so I changed it a little so that I can weave the starting end with the finishing end and then continue the tie in both directions over itself to lock it.
I have to say I do like your vids and to support I purchased the book off amazon.com and am waiting for it to show. If I had not seen the videos I may have gone with anther auther. Great job so far.
Hey man, your videos are really cool! I just made an orange bracelet with a black hair tie for my daughters. Giants colors! And it works really well! This was also my first attempt at tying knots. I really enjoyed doing it.
Hey JD i gotta question I'm using 550 paracord and I'm going to be making a soloman bar into a bracelet and I saw a tutorial saying to remove the inner strands does it make a diffrence? Thank's ~ Clax
@cLaX1227 - You don't have to take out the inner strands.,. But doing so (or reducing the number of strands) will decrease the rigidity of your cord. On the other hand, if the purpose of your bracelet is as an emergency source of cord, you may want to leave the strands as is. Function over fashion, as it were…
@peacelovegolf0172 Paracord isn't elastic. it does stretch (to absorb shock in its original application) but it doesn't return to its original length. This fact isn't actually relevant to this bracelet since the cord won't have much opportunity to stretch, but in a more traditional bracelet design the bracelet would get a little bit bigger after a while of wearing it (or rather adjusting it/putting it on/taking it off). Some sinnets offer elasticity of their own, but the solomon bar doesn't.

@geeshawna its called 550 cord (aka paracord, dummy cord). you can use that google website and find out all kinds of places online to buy as much as you want, in any color you want. OR, you call around to any local military surplus stores, they will more than likely have it.
That's an awesome idea; so creative! Do you think the same design would word with a king cobra weave (Double Solomon Bar)? I question the elasticity of a tight weave

This is just a great idea....
No clips needed, no knos and loops needed.
I would like to add, though, that when I singe my ends, I like to melt them together, so it doesn't come unweaved if used alot
03pontiac 3 months ago
If you cut the loose ends when your done wont it just unravel or do you need to tie knots at the end??
lucyluvshorses 3 months ago
Hey JD, should this be tied loosely or not? I am making these to help fund my trip to Northern Tier, a high adventure camp. Thanks.

Is there a certain trick to make this work? Every time I try the knot is either too loose or too tight. What is the trick?

@TyingItAllTogether alright thank you, I'll be sure to leave the strands in
cLaX1227 11 months ago
brilliant!
@criscros you're completely missing the point--the paracord slides around the elastic part and doesn't need to be elastic itself. (And it isn't.)

could you use a non-elastic cord for this? (over the elastic scrunchie)

Nice, JD. I like the idea of an elastic soloman bar bracelet. I imagine this technique would work with some of the other sinnets, too?

Hey JD do the knots have to be tied loosly? or will tight ones work? could i even tie every second one loose?
gavphoenix1 1 year ago
@gavphoenix1
If you want to make sure it slides (arround the band), you need to tie it (slightly) loose, but not that much.

I didn't remove the inner strands (its 450 paracord). 550 works just as well.

If you didn't replace the inner strands with the hair tie I don't see how it would end up elastic.
