  • WTF is this shit? Are you under the impression that this is somehow witty? This is like 13 year olds who make YoutubePoop videos where they just screw up the audio and make people repeat the same phrase over and over again, thinking they're comedic geniuses.

  • Flagged..

  • @Drunkenfairy

Nobody cares. Why didn't you just type "meh"? You would have saved a few letters...

  • @unpaidpiper You obviously care enough to reply to my comment :) Im touched..

  • @Drunkenfairy Touché.

    :)

  • @unpaidpiper :D

  • Hahahaha! I can't help but wonder, now, what if Danny Elfman had written the soundtrack and Tim Burton directed the Song of the South.... Hahaha

  • The visual of that is Tar Baby.......

  • OMG, I thought they were supposed to be black boys NOT RABBITS!!! Gosh are black kids that difficult to work with????

  • XDDD

Watership Down bye the way is really good/sad/deep

  • Yes definitely. I loved Watership Down as a kid and I still do.

  • @Sabakukyo I read the original novel Watership Down. It was a great book. kinda like a rabbit version of The Lord of The Rings

  • Is this a joke?

  • Neil Gaiman must've been really furious! he didn't like it did he?.. will neither did i! The st0ry and characters sh0uld have stayed as they are!!! i write st0ries to0 and i definitely w0uld n0t want them revised this way!!

  • I think the slo-mo makes it even funnier.

You know, I've never seen "Song of the South" -- not by accident, I'm sure -- and I have to say even the little bit featured here looks interesting.

  • Getting a hold of a copy of this movie is extremely difficult because Disney won't release it to the US due to the main theme of movie (black slavery) but it has been released in other countries, mainly Europe and in a different format than ours. My dad, however, got a copy of it on DVD (bootleg but the only way to get it in the US) so I had the opportunity to watch it and it's not bad. The slaves aren't treated horribly at all.

  • @darkfaelin

"The slaves aren't treated horribly at all."

you are the all time winner for stupid statements. You oughta be sterilized before you pollute the gene pool anymore than your family tree (which given your idiotic statement CLEARLY has no branches!) already has.

There's this group of whites out there who have this kinky need to justify and defend all things racist. No shock there.

But can't you retards confine your nonsense to right wing hate radio with the rest of the trash?

    Jeesh!

  • @j1607760 Did you read the rest of my comment? (darkfaelin is my old account) I was referring to the movie genius, not slaves in general. But I'm not going to defend myself any further to you because your brain probably won't be able to comprehend that either.

  • @saicheshire

God america needs to bring back eugenics --NOW!

  • @j1607760 Don't you have a rock to crawl under?

  • @yerk3

I was under your mother, but she said she needed some "quality time" with you so...

  • @j1607760 Oh, so you're going to play that game. I fucked your mother so long, I'm probably your dad.

  • DIEZ

  • Ok, I "get" that this isn't real, but I still don't really understand the point of editing a bunch of kids' movies together on the strength of a flippant comment made be Mr Gaiman. 0_o

Back to things that are actually relevant - I think Anansi Boys would make a fantastic film. I shall persist in keeping my fingers crossed.

  • W...T...F......... was that

  • That's song of the south...

  • the bunnies are cute ;P!!

  • Umm... O.O

    Is that Watership Down?

    This actually cracked me up.

  • did u make this and what is the name of dat song

  • Lol!!! Very good job, V. funny

  • You should send this to his Youtube channel NeilHimself.

  • lol briar rabbit

  • XD I can't believe some people believe it's real XD XD

  • Hilarious. Excellent music choices.

  • "I think if I didn't like something I'd probably take the Thumper (from Bambi) option and not say anything, unless I felt the world needed to be warned, and then I'd have to choose my words carefully, unless I really really felt the world needed to be warned, in which case I'd warn everyone as best I could, probably standing out by the entrance to the freeway shouting "Don't go and see the Anansi Boys film! They've made them all rabbits! It's now a caper movie set in a chocolate factory!...etc

  • Lol, I love the attention span of the average human,

    PICTURES NOW! OMFG THIS SUX!

  • what the hell is this?? splicing scenes from "song of the south" and "watership down" together with music from "gremlins" to mock "anansi boys"? what a lame idea. get another hobby, because making videos that spoof good books just isn't working out.

  • Well, I guess I could retort by pointing out that mr Gaiman himself has linked to this video from his blog, or I COULD inquire wich part of the description that comes with this video that was unclear to you...

...but then I would just be repeating myself again.

    :-)

  • @unpaidpiper *enquire

  • This is hysterical.

  • Sheesh. This is from "Song of the South"

  • That music towards the end is cool. What is it?

  • The music from the latter half is "Gremlin Rag" by Danny Elfman.

It is not uncommon for commercial trailers to recycle music from other movies :-)

  • Jerry Goldsmith, not Danny Elfman.

  • Correct, it´s Jerry Goldsmith.

    My bad, sorry.

  • No one ever looks at that grey box on the right side of the video, do they? -_-*

  • Yeah, Neil Gaiman riding on his own coat-tails is so gauche. 9_9

  • lol what is this? :D

  • hahahahahhahhahahaha

  • Certainly a creative combination of movie clips, Monkey. Those waiting for this movie might check out Dreamkeeper (not Dreamcatcher)If a movie were to be made of his book I would hope that it would not be animated.

  • I can't wait for this movie!

  • I'm so confused. This isn't serious... is it?

  • Neil Gaiman is just taking after Alan Moore and being precious about his work. This trailer shows that his fears are ungrounded. I for one am looking forward to it.

  • you do know this is just a put together of other films right? that this isent actuly a trailer for an Anansi Boys film right?

  • I love the fact that the gremlins music chimes in for no reason. It's so cool to turn funny blog comments into stuff like this, kickass!

  • LOL. Has anyone involved in this (wether fake or not) ever read Anansi Boys?

    No?

It shows. Even if its ironic its not done well enough.

  • I lol'd at the dubbed watership down clips.

Man.. I really like the animation for Song Of The South... I kind of want to watch it D:

  • Yeah, that is Brother Rabbit at the beginning...This was pathetic. Poor Gaiman...

  • You mean Brer Rabbit.

  • Um...it just looks like you took a bunch of Brother Rabbit cartoon episodes, compiled them together, and added sound bits from famous films. Nice. Though I did enjoy the Eddie Murphey clip at the end.

  • che boiata

  • Aslo look up the legend of Makoma he's basically the African Hercules and it's my opinion that this is the root of the John Henry tale.

  • Some scenes are from Watership Down...

  • oh come on, first off spiders NOT bunnies and that was only the first thing everything about this video annoies me

  • Neil Gaiman made a comment on his blog including the quote "...I'd warn everyone as best I could, probably standing out by the entrance to the freeway shouting "Don't go and see the Anansi Boys film! They've made them all rabbits! It's now a caper movie set in a chocolate factory!" at the uncaring people driving past..." This is just poking fun at that.

  • Cliff note: Brother Rabbit is based on the African Myth Anansi brought over by the African Slaves it was retranslated and Anansi was changed from a Spider too a Rabbit.

  • worst fake...ever...

  • Ooh, Bre'r Rabbit!

  • Dear god.

  • Hahahahahaha What the f...

  • the music came from gremlins

  • Music of DONNIE DARKO

  • Um, both Donny Darko AND Gremlins, actually...

  • Brer Rabbit and Watership Down clips? Utterly Bizarre...

  • This must be fake. I know, because it's made out of Watership Down and Gremlins and Ocean's 11 and Shrek.

  • Well done, because none of us have ever seen any of those, ever. Sure glad you're here to clear things up for us.

  • Astoundingly enough, I was being sarcastic in my pointing out of the blatant. It's so obviously fake that technically nobody needs to comment on it at all. Although a few people appear not to realize this.

  • What's with the random inserts from Watership Down?

  • jesus christ!!! this has to be some sort of joke...nobody could make a book that good into such a terrible movie.

    god damn.

  • what the f...? I have to see this.

  • Thanks for the inspiration to make my own trailer. Yours is way better though, ten times as funny, love the Ocean's11, Will Smith, Eddie Murphy, and Brer rabbit cameos. And is there some footage from the Velveteen rabbit cartoon movie? I remember that from when i was little, haven't seen it in ages.

  • Lol.

That's all I have to say. I loved Fiver cussing, that cracked me up.

  • Hummm, yes... I guess Neil has learn't never again to make throw away comments regaurding movie adapations on his blog. Of course, if he didn't, we'd never have got to see this - a work of werid brillience.

  • Has someone sent him this... please? It's awesome.

  • Yes, mr Gaiman has seen this film. He blogged about it on May 05, 2007. And he included a link back here, so I think he was rather pleased by it.

  • ...why can i not recall a chocolate factory... ;.; why?? lol

I liked that book. (never got to finish it) but i liked it alot (i was on the last couple chapters too...)

  • Oh my god... that's fucking hilarious! Although, I suppose it can really only serve as an inside joke for the Neil Gaiman fan crowd

  • Awesome! (Gotta love Neil Gaiman) What song did you use around 1:20? I like it. =)

  • The music in question is from the film Gremlins.

  • thanks! =)

  • I'd watch that, if 'twere a movie. :D

  • Priceless!

  • Hilarious considering how similar the whole tar-man thing played out. I also think Grahame would be proud of his new factory ;)

  • The tarman thing is an actual myth, and there are African myths were a rabbit replaces Anansi so it is not that far fetched.

  • That was really cool. And oh man, do I miss Brer Rabbit. Thank you!

  • Uh, ha ha?
