Blower is just another name for it, have a read on wikipedia under Supercharger then go to the part about Types of supercharger and you will see where it says Roots superchargers are external compression only, Roots blowers are efficient at moving air at low pressure, which is what they were first invented for (hence the original term blower). I am also a professional drag racer.
