What I'd guess is going on, not looking at the title, is that she grew a nanotube "forest" on the surface of a silicon wafer (this is a very common way of making carbon nanotubes), and is grabbing the edge of the forest and pulling to make a sort of nanotube yarn/fiber.

well the globalization concept is a good way to get "shit" done, if only we were driven by something other then money or power... that would be nice...wouldn't it? a lot of people aim for money or fame, i find goals/achievements better. what do you want to achieve? I invented nano-tubes a long long time ago. I remember burning a plastic wiffle-baseball bat in the back yard and these black wisps of material would float up from the flames and float around. Try it yourself, will only work with certain plastics. Don't hurt yourself.
