  • Where do I get those? I'm making a bikini for my girlfriend out of this material

  • The aerogel / nanotube matrix has density that is so low it is suspended on the slight updraft caused by the researcher's body heat.

  • They must have been throwing science against the wall and see what stuck.

  • string thing: SPAAAAAAAAAACE

  • My eyes became dinner plates when the magic science stuff defied gravity.

  • Huh... I had no idea carbon nanotubes were lighter than air.

  • wait wait wait this was uploaded in 2009 and i have never heard of this until now?

  • OH MY GOD

  • Do not watch this while high.

  • explain this!

  • did she died?

  • thumbs up if you have no idea what the shit is going on.

  • @maybeidontgiveashit It's a Carbon Nanotube Muscle #3

  • @maybeidontgiveashit This honestly doesn't look like any sort of muscle. What I'd guess is going on, not looking at the title, is that she grew a nanotube "forest" on the surface of a silicon wafer (this is a very common way of making carbon nanotubes), and is grabbing the edge of the forest and pulling to make a sort of nanotube yarn/fiber.

  • @maybeidontgiveashit they are currently testing the effects of carbon nano tubes. for making fake or man made muscle tissue. it can also be used to make ropes, fabric and all kinds of cool shit. that's what is going on here. this experiment is just the tip of the iceberg

  • @159tony It's possible that ANYTHING can be made from carbon nanotubes, as carbon is the building block in just about everything.

  • @twizz420 yup..that's basically what i was saying but you just made it a bit more simple.. ;)...peace bro

  • how do u make those?

  • MAXIMUM ARMOR

  • WITCHCRAFT!!!!!

  • and there goes the gravity

  • what what what what it floats what what

  • @tramvaj12

well the globalization concept is a good way to get "shit" done, if only we were driven by something other then money or power... that would be nice...wouldn't it? a lot of people aim for money or fame, i find goals/achievements better. what do you want to achieve? I want to create a specific form of life, so I'm pursuing it, no matter what any politician or religious zealot has ever told me. I also tend to stray away from my nationalisms, I think I'm me happiest that way.

  • @halofan303 And that is why I love Internet, you are couple hundreds kilometers from me. And still we can communicate. I would be happy to have steady life to be honest, to have something to eat, maybe tomorrow wife and kids but in these condition you can barely keep you self in life...Honestly I hate modern concept of management and economy, and that is on other. You can have something if you can manage to have literally slaves to do something for you...

  • @tramvaj12

the quote i put in was just for the hell of entertaining as i always go offline with a bang.

  • @halofan303 Problem with Global that we have to be very self aware that we can be self controlled for sake of goods and that can go easily in wrong direction if someone "bad" get that position. That is good to have two different blocks. And problem with Russia they have smart people good technology but a little is finished to the end. Putin is now awakening tech from soviet era... So they are good but unfinished. And US is finished and using their tech as you can see all over world.

  • Too pity that there is no much more Russians. World would be much more faster to growth. No one is smart enough as Russians are ;).

  • @tramvaj12

I don't claim to be an expert, but there seem to be quite a few Russians in.... Russia.

  • @tramvaj12

    UTubeSrfr makes a valid point,...

but did you know the germans are ferther in science then both USA and Russia?

at least thats how it is according to my tech-history teacher, as well as my parents, and my personal opinion too.

  • @halofan303 probably but Germany is smart, but they are in some point way better but Russia keep goods, as my opinion Germany is best mechanics/electronics, US electronics system, Russia mathematic/mechanic

  • @tramvaj12

yea you might be right about that, most likely too.

Germans supposedly make high quality and performance equipment, were as Russians make more robust, sturdy equipment.... more or less ain't that accurate?

  • @halofan303 yes something like that, The Russian problem to be even better by more opinion is lack of optimization, they are doing in the nova days but still they are late in electronics... US is really threating here. And even I think the position of interest of US is threatening military position for Russia... And that slowing civilian technology as they have to concentrate to modernize military systems to oppose threat from US and trust me I had chance to see that threat...

  • @tramvaj12 I think anyone focusing on military is slightly, i dunno, less advanced?I mean yea they seem a lot more threatening then the Russians do, but who is the bigger person? the one with the brains or the brawn? The USA is more lethal in their use of technology, but without the help of scientists from other countries they wouldn't be doing the best they could either. sure we've evolved a lot, but if were still fighting then does it matter much how advanced the weapons we use are?

  • @halofan303 The professor of friend of mine have a good saying. We are little these days and we can only do if we are standing on shoulders of Giants. Meaning we evolved. But we do not go in fight because we are standing on Nuclear weapons force and too much complicated interest that they are trying to accomplish on Global scale. But that just convert from National to Company interest. We are loosing power of some countries but Gaining slavery of big Companies and few strongcountries

  • I love the one rule of freedom, and that is the freedom is the state that you can do anything that doesn't hurt freedom of other and vice versa. I do not know, I'm for open minded people, but still I do not know why everyone want to be a god, US want to control the world, for god sake. What would happen if I go in US and start talking that is bad, capitalism, money, this system... And start giving them my rules of system... I think they would smash me... And they are doing quite same

  • @tramvaj12

nah, they would smash you, then stab you, then rape you, then stab you again.

Americans are assholes, I've just made myself hate them and think that 99,999% of them are arrogant idiots. because im not too far off.

now, i would very much appreciate it, if we could continue this conversation in a PM, would make it more manageable.

  • @halofan303 HEEYYYY, I'M AMERICAN....but you're pretty much right D:<

  • @meoey

im part American myself, so i know i am potentially insulting myself. |3

of course i was exaggerating by a percent or two, i know not all of them let their ego, money or whatever get in the way, but the majority of Americans are just....despicable.. perhaps good in their own eyes or ways, so who am i to judge.

  • @halofan303 No no, It's the Majority of Americans you /hear/ about that are despicable. Just like how sometimes it seems that most people in a movie theater are inconsiderate noisy jerks when really like, 95% of the people there just want to watch the movie!

  • @Ittybritty196

    reaaaally now?

in the time i was over in the US. a majority of my classmates, and anyone i knew really, were pretty much scumbaggin douches. even the nerds that had no social life outside of video games were pretty much asshats.

so, even if what you say is true -which is probably so-

I personally think that the majority of people in the USA are idiots, regardless of what you say, regardless of what my arrogant son of a bitch father says, I still think that.

  • @halofan303 See man there's your problem, you're thinking American is a race. "American" is a nationality that is created through an amalgam of (primarily) European blood stock. So if you say you're part American, you're probably actually Brit/German/Italian/Whatever + the "American" stuff, so probably more Brit/German/Italian blood. Unless you mean American Indian, otherwise you _cannot_ be "part" American. It'd be like having part citizenship.

  • @halofan303 Oh also, keep in mind that a giant portion of the ignorant shit you read on the internet is the result of the brilliant teenaged troll mind. Americans aren't NEARLY as bad as you think. Just like one of your posts states, you've made YOURSELF believe Americans are assholes. Travel a bit and you'll see that while Americans can be more boisterous than other nationalities, but people are pretty much the same everywhere. Maszlow's heirarchy of needs, etc.

  • @Jackalhit

probably, and im not saying your wrong.

you are probably right. there probably not as bad as i make it sound.

HOWEVER, i still havn't changed my emotions towards the americans, despite accepting that or not.

originally it was the government i hated, then the idiots and arrogant twats followed, teenagers and kids began pissing me off... and now i just hate the majority of them... doesn't mean I'd nuke them though, there still part of our despicable species afterall.

  • @halofan303 PS - PM if you wanna continue, character limiter makes it tough to ACTUALLY share ideas lol... who knows maybe I can turn your seething hate into a simmering boil :P

  • Comment removed

  • @halofan303 *Shrug* Sorry you feel that way I guess. Although to be fair, it's probably just because they were teenagers. Middle school is just awful. People at that age are often hormone charged and insecure. The insecurity, unfortunately, leads to bullying. As for the kids? Well, children aren't usually all that smart.

  • @Ittybritty196

of course im not saying EVERYONE is bad, i just don't like alot of people...

well it depends on how you see it, a lot of douche bags i can understand why they are that way, but i just don't like a lot of them...

true kids usually aren't....but they weren't as bad say, 20? 10? hell 5 years ago they were okay...now everything is just...shit? yea a lot of things today is just shit.

glad i go to a nerd school now thank f**king god.

  • @halofan303 I am the 0.001 %......Occupy America

  • @TheDragonsword123

    .....

    ...clever.

-according to my information, theres about 3000 of the entire american population, that would be like that if i was right, of course i was exadurating by about a percent or two

  • @halofan303 haha, Good one, yes, that is helping but I do not like that anyone suffer. But that would be good. That is good business idea: "You do not like your lives, just come to Serbia and you will be happy till the end of days :)" You will get Extra bad experience Gratis if you like :)

  • Holy dang!

  • cheating level: ASIAN

    ...oh wait

  • Lighter than air, stronger than steel.

    Fuckin awesome.

  • @Industriallity

    *stronger than diamond

    FTFY.

    ;-)

  • I think would be awesome to swallow this! It's unrestrictable =)

  • @tramvaj12

does anyone thats not rich as fuck actually enjoy the modern form of management in the economy?

sounds rough, but as a great man once told me. "Even in the darkest time, even when you feel that you've been raped up the ass so many times that you might as well give in, just remember there is always some nigga who is having it a lot worse then you. so stay happy and keep your hope going kid, now, some money please?" -a quote from a deep, emotional speech i heard from a hobo.

  • I'm so confused now.

  • Anti-gravity!!!

  • INHALE IT !!!

  • what sorcery is this?

  • @KarnageSW Science ! Scientists ! Burn them !

  • just add epic music and you have a wining video

  • American technology superiority, once again :)

  • @NoBullet funny joke is funny

  • @strontklont How is this a joke? This was created at Texas University

  • @NoBullet nano technologie was created long before the university of texas made this. not saying its not incredible but caling american technology superior "once again" might be a bit much dont you think ? you do realise that most technology in the world is a collective result of multiple scientist from various nations right ?

  • @strontklont Carbon Nanotube Muscle was created at Texas U. Where did I say nano technology? And considering youtube is filled with bigot Europeans and their anti american comments, my comment is very tame. So please, check yourself.

Also nano technology origins did have its roots in the US.

  • @NoBullet perhaps i was to harsh if not unfriendly. its mainly that i am tired of (almost) every american i come across on youtube has this "without america the world will end" way of thinking while in the end i dare say big nations such as america tend to bring more harm then good to those around them.

  • Asians again.....

  • @bydrew333 This was created at the University of Texas by Ray Baughman

  • I have never seen someone appear so dead inside while doing and watching something so interesting

  • @MrDrMcNinjas She's probably seen it a thousand times and saw even cooler stuff by the time this vid was made.

  • SHIT BE BLOWIN MY MIND

  • Isn't elasticity based on how much a substance can go back to its original form after it's been deformed? If anything, that's not elastic at all.

  • :24 is there a frame missing? It makes it look like this is fake...

  • @humand1saster word

  • @humand1saster

Its not fake, it really is extremely light and seems like it floats

(I know cause I work with machines that make these nanotubes)

  • Can't wait to see all the new hood rat hairstyles this summer!

  • HE MAKE-A NOODRE FROAT?

  • @IntenseSapience think its a she.

  • does anyone else havve the strong urge to eat that?

  • @aepps2 just imagine what would happen when you poop

  • WHAT!? SCIENTISTS HAVE DISCOVERED SOMETHING LIGHTER THAN AIR!? HOLY CRAP!

  • Anybody else want a jacket with these hangn off all over like those crappy old leather jackets with the tassels lining the under arm.... or a hat

I MUST WEAR THIS AND RECREATE THE ORACLE SCENE IN 300

    (Brain Explodes...)

  • they just dont care.

  • BURN THE WITCH!

  • "Hello, Is this Gravity? Terribly sorry mate, I am very busy today. Why don't you come back tomorrow?"

  • Must be light

  • I call bullshit, that room was just really windy.

  • @animal18000 so windy i mean jeez look at her hair go.

  • ARE YOU A WIZARD?

  • WHAT MEANS OF WITCHERY IS THIS

  • I guess it is impressive because most people are not aware that air can be seen as similar to water, just much much lighter.

  • Gentlemen i think we have found Magic

  • for people wondering, that string is strong then steel at the same thickness and weighs next to nothing. in the future it can be made to build super strong and light things

  • For some reason, I want a wig made of this. :P

  • @MonstermashCullen Since carbon nanotubes are toxic, I don't think that's a good idea...

  • IMPOSSIBRU!

  • @BoushkaDoosh Science, C2 is lighter than O2&CO2.

  • anyone else notice how the camera kept cutting out?

  • YOU'VE BROKEN GRAVITY.

    YOU'VE DOOMED US ALL!

  • WHAT MANNER OF SORCERY IS THIS?

  • WITCH!!!!

  • @mattakudesu LMFAO nice lets start a riot * pics up pitchfork and torch

  • What was causing it to contract/ambulate?

  • @SavageInsight The nano tubes are so light that they are being moved by the convection currents in the air.

  • that must weigh goddammed near nothing

  • If those things are really strong, could they hold a persons body mass? Because I think it would be pretty fucking awesome to swing around like spiderman on one those things. :3

  • @OhLookItsJosh 100 times stronger than steel lol.

  • @dkoribag1 So is that a yes? :3

  • put that on a tip of an unlit cigarette and walk down the street, make for great times

  • @IsaraiLee LOL

  • WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?

  • It's as if the surrounding air is water. o_o

  • IT actually floats 0_o

  • Hey, who stole my gravity >:[

  • WoW Cool!

  • 8 people don't like the future.

  • I bet those nano fibers are carcinogenic..

  • @cappie2000 the worry is how physically similar they are to asbestos. The fact that they are pure carbon has become a wildcard element.

Granted, a great many things are carcinogenic.

  • @Menuki Yes.. but anything that small and structured is bound to have an effect on cell structure whenever parts of it come in contact with membranes.. if it will result in defective cellular replication remains to be seen, true..

  • but... but... but... i need to sit down now

  • this is incredibly trippy

  • unserprisingly enough, the japanese are always the ones that produces new technology

  • @darrenhello2 That's because most American's can't even spell "unsurprisingly", correctly.

  • @gigas10 don't be an asshole. Stop belittling an entire group of people based on your maladaptive assumptions about us.

  • @gigas10 And many people don't know that " 's " after a noun means the POSSESSIVE and not the PLURAL

You are one of these many

They don't HAVE to be Americans, do they? Are you?

  • @gigas10 did it cross your mind that there are more countries in the world and not just America, in which (bdw) they also write comments on youtube?

  • remarkable

  • wow, what is that!?

  • Wow that's a cool substance there. Looks trippy at 0:22.

  • SCIENCE.

  • Don't suck it into your nose

  • It flies because it is VERY VERY VERY light. Its like having a towel or string underwater.

  • that's some wicked shit

  • is this is a carbon nano tube? it looks like a thread to me. and why it flys?

  • @DeathGhost809 its not "A" carbon nanotube is a bunch of carbon nanotubes that where "grown" you pull them off they stick to oneanother. kinda like a bouch of /////////// layed down

  • @DrDezzzy still wonder why it is so flexable? it should be solid like iron, and why it fly in the air

  • @DeathGhost809... carbon nano tubes have a much higher Tensile strength than steel meaning it takes ALOT more to pull them apart then steel, one of the reason there so special is because the have that high tensile strength but are still very flexible, as to why they are floating so crazily i could only speculate and would probably make of an ass out of my self then i already have.

  • @DrDezzzy so i can sew a suit out of it? or maybe a T-shirt, amazing

  • @DrDezzzy

Says so in the video description, it's actually a carbon nanotube/aerogel mixture. They made the aerogel out of something lighter than air and the nanotubes are light enough to provide structure without weighing it down.

  • @DeathGhost809

I think this wil be some exoskeloton crysis style suit part

  • Mrandroid27 you'll need a machine to heat about 500c and buy a oxidize catalyst trust me you need money and lots of power

  • Why don't I see this video show up anymore

  • nanotech ufo??

  • wow

  • how about making a nano skin suit that protects the body from any harmful micro bacteria etc. is it too future or are we there yet?

  • @MotherEarthswarrior Fuck that, I want a gun made of titanium that shoots carbon nanotube bullets. YEAH!

  • @MotherEarthswarrior A nano suit lol, that's so cute

  • where can i get this? anyone knows?

  • @MrAndroid27 Do you have any machines that can heat two Carbons together at 400 degrees C? No? Then you need MONEY!

  • @Glassjaw003 no i don't have any machines, but i have money! how's that ? ;) Just doing research i would love to invest money and produce some new materials i wouldn't mind having business partner :) who ever know how to make machine and cost , be my guest , help me out.

  • first of all i was like hey it's hiro nakamura....then i was like WTF....

  • I invented nano-tubes a long long time ago. I remember burning a plastic wiffle-baseball bat in the back yard and these black wisps of material would float up from the flames and float around. Try it yourself, will only work with certain plastics. Don't hurt yourself.

  • @Peopleunit i did same thing as a kid , cool, but , how to hold it together and make it so strong and flex.?

  • I'm gonna take a guess and say that handling that material bare handed would be a BAD BAD BAD idea.

  • Comment removed

  • shes got a white coat, shes gotabe legit bahha

  • N-tubes are amazing, just look at them how light and thin they are, WOW,WOW,WOW

  • what the fuck is that?

  • И ЧО С ЭТИМ ДЕЛАТЬ ?

  • @terson78 им можно отрезать голову как сливочное масло ))))))

  • OMG I was looking for this vid for soooooo long.
