It's a condenser mic, which means it's a whole lot more sensitive than a normal dynamic vocal mic - you can see from how it can record his voice so clearly from so far away. This also means that while he can move away from a dynamic mic to prevent it from picking up his breathing, with this one he can't. It's not his fault, blame Yahoo.

If you don't know what compressions is, it's when you apply a certain effect to a track to make the softer parts louder and bring the louder parts lower, in essence creating a more balanced, but less dynamic track. That is causing alot of this effect as well, if you pay attention, the entire track you can hear the vocals pretty much at the same volume....compression!
