I would love to get a copy of Robocop shown on ITV post watershed which was dubbed into a comedy. The bit where the guy is robbing the off licence and is shouting fuck me! fuck me! turned into why me! why me! even though a mediocre lip reader could tell what he was saying. This reminds me of when ITV showed Die hard and they were censoring all the bad language in films at the time as there was a big clamp down on swearing on TV, instead of saying "Yippekayaa mother f***er" they dubbed over it with Yippee Kayaa Kimosaabi but slowed it down so badly it just sounded ridiculous

This was so funny at the time because the tv companies actually did this. ITV showed the film Aliens and drowned out the marines swearing as they were gorily killed with a machine gun fire soundtrack. Human beings ripped apart was far less offensive than the odd "fuck you" then.

Maybe the Beeb no longer over dub the 'bad words' out but other channels, several of the digitals, have started doing that a lot.

The annoying thing was that the BBC would censor a film like this and say they had to because they were showing it before the 9pm watershed but years later, when they happened to show it again at midnight, they still showed the censored version.
