There is no problem, in itself, with people taking interest in their race, and doing whatever they can to further their race, as long as they are not unfairly denying others equal opportunity to be all they can be as well. The problems arise when one group disallows another ethnicity from equal opportunity in life. After the 1948 war, there was a conference to return to the partition plan borders, but the leaders of the Arab nations which attacked Israel would rather have Israel dehumanized so that it would be later wiped off of the map, so they refused it. Then, Israel passed a law in 1949 allowing refugees to return and become citizens of Israel. About 160,000 took advantage of that, and they have the same rights as any other citizen in Israel.

1. It wouldn't have made much of a difference whether Israel existed within its borders or not, since Jews bought their land fair and square. Nobody was forced out, the only problem was that the Arabs had a problem with Jews living beside them, so nothing was forced upon anyone.
2. Arabs lived in Palestine for 1300 years. If they didn't want a nation to exist there, why didn't they consider creating their own Islamic nation over it?

And just so you know, Israel made a law stating that if you're a Palestinian refugee, you can return IF you can 1. prove that you lived in the region of Palestine before 1948 and 2. His goal is to link the rockets to a State. If the PR machine can do that, Israel qualifies for pre-emptive strikes. Linkage means an invasion becomes an act of self-defence (UN Security Council Resolution #51).

Ibn Warraq has controversial views on early Islam, I'm no scholar but I've read Albert Hourani's book: "A History of The Arab Peoples;" early on in the development of theological critique an influential thought was that all religion was dangerous.
That was controversial in the 6th century; Albert Hourani's book also chronicles the development of contemporary Middle East politics which I believe is more relevant.

I didn't read "From Time Immemorial" so I don't know. Did Norman Finkelstein prove 'The Case for Israel' to be "total nonsense"? I would like to see that. The first link you added is realy far-fetched, I find it quite funny when foriegn websites (not Israeli or Palestinian) write there conspiracys that no one here would ever believe. I didn't look at the second but it is true that the US and Israel tried to strengthen the more moderate Fatah in their conflict with the more extrimist Hamas.
