I like some Sparta songs, but this one looks and sounds like a giant circle-jerk on guitars. I've heard white noise that sounds better, but hey, that's music. Totally subjective.
I love TMV, ATDI, and Sparta, but shit Wiretap Scars is probably my favorite album from any of them. Sets up just a fucking crazy mood every time I listen to it
i think its best they broke up when they did, as much as i loved them, their best work was the first record they made after they broke up, deloused and wiretap scars. and they would have never been able to explore the sound they created after they split, i love all 3 bands in their own separate way.
Two different bands. What I will say is that that slow, patient jam building up to a perfect drop into the song is sheer brilliance. These guys are real players, no doubt about it. Wiretap Scars was a great record, and I haven't gotten into much since then, whereas The Mars Volta have kept me interested musically throughout a longer span of time, and they are more suited to my tastes as I've gotten older.
god damn this is AMAZING. this album was played absolutely non stop by my throughout some really great high school years right when it came out. hearing some of these songs brings some really great memories back.
This is the song that made me first pay attention to Sparta.

Pretty sure they played almost all of wiretap when I saw them open for Pearl Jam back in '03. This version is mind blowing

@Bringouttherum69 Yeah, Cleveland 03. I took my little brother to his first PJ show, he left a huge Sparta fan.

It's such a fucking good album, its like if Asleep in the Back by Elbow was Post-Hardcore rather than indie.
