You need to get it checked out by a doctor in person. He can preform tests on it to see if you tore your ACL. Further, you need an MRI. You can wait to see if it starts to improve after a week or so in case its just a sprain, but you should go see a doctor. For now you can ice it, elevate it, take anti-inflamatories and rest it. Not much else you can do.
@sportsman3990 lol tard, if your ACL is torn its not going to heal in a week, ive waited for 2 years for a surgery and eat 3 pills a day to keep it abit more stable and make it hurt less. and i dont think that guy has got a MRI of the knee if he hadnt been to a doctor. ive been to 8 different doctors plus MRI and 5 weeks of physical therapy...
im 15 and i had ACL reconstuction and meniscus repair on my right knee, i first injured it last year and has only just got sorted but now having another operation because my first meniscus repair failed this is so annoying as im very active and i also cannot fully straighten my leg. and it keeps clicking which is annoying also and i still have to do physiotherapy every week, i dont think anything is wrong with my meniscus but im not the doctor cos it doesnt give way on my like it use to
I'm 15 and I tore my ACL when I was 13. I had my surgery about a year and a half ago(doner) and my knee is great now, still can't bend it all the way but that's because I
Didn't take rehab seriously, the only problem Is when its cold it hurts xp haha
I completely tore my acl and I have to get this done...I don't know whether to get a donor or use my own...and I also want to know if anyone has had this surgery adn been successful enough to not have had torn it again...I just want to know it's possible
you seem like you know what youre talking about. are you in the ironic position of being an orthopedic surgeon with a torn ACL? what advice would you give to someone with a torn ACL?
@imaxman1 Yeah, luckily rehab is going perfectly... I'm a fast healer and my PT is pretty darn good so I'm already sprinting back at (almost) full speed, cutting some at like 75% speed and what not... should be good in another month and a half :)
@anaiarro at 16 years old your body should do fine recovering from surgery, i dont see why you shouldn't get it unless there are underlining medical problems I'm not aware of. I'm 19 and had reconstructive back and leg surgery done last summer, i was walking around 4 mos later. In other words, take advantage of your youth.
@theprimeform well i had my surfery just 2 months ago cause i reinjure and i torn my meniscus and mcl from thesame knee playing soccer! so no ACL,eniscus and MCL i had to have it but im doing alright by now anway thanks fo your advise
I tore my acl playing soccer I shot on goal and when I landed my knee twisted I felt a pop and so much pain, my MRI confirmed I had an ACL tear and a dislocation of the patella, it was a complete tear, Im 16 years old my doctor told e not to have the surgery because my muscles are strong enough to handle it, I feel so much pain and it has been 2months already, my knee feels stable but im in a constant pain.... what should I do?
what software did you use to see the images? I'm getting an MRI of my knee today and I don't want to wait until the report comes back. Were can I download something that will allow me to see the images on the disc? thanks.
@davargas12 so actually, after my MRI I asked for a copy of the CD and when they gave it to me, since I have a mac, I couldn't load it on so I went to a library computer, loaded it, and then video recorded it from my iphone and posted it onto youtube so that a family member of mine, who's a doctor, could see it

i tore my acl as well, but im lucky enough to be a person wth good muscle structture, so it feels perfectly stable, but my dad is making me get the surgery, im 14 and dont think i need it, but because im under 18 i dont get a say
@bosnich911 good muscle structure or not, you still need an ACL to have a stable, functioning knee and since you're 14, you have your whole life ahead of you and if you want to be able to play any type of cutting sport, then you need to get it reconstructed
@sportsman3990 yea i know that but i can runand sprint and i do motocross and the only time i have a problam is when i put my foot down going round a corner, and the doc could tell by a physical examination that i had any damge at all
