Do you know how long the Dragon skin lasts after it's been cast? Does it break down or lose it's flexibility after a few months? Also, is it tacky, or does it stick to itself? How smooth is it? Does it "catch" on clothing like latex gloves do?
@lastfuckingaccount it lasts indefinitely. it is silicone, which is very durable. it does not break down in any way and its properties do not change. this formulation is tacky unless dusted with cornstarch, because i added slacker to make it softer. it is as smooth as whatever you use for a mold. it does not catch on fabric. it is heat resistant and dishwasher safe.
Thanks for the quick reply. You're much more helpful than the companies I've contacted.
When you say "this formulation is tacky", do you mean that dragon skin casted without slacker won't be tacky? Or will it need cornstarch too? Does the skacler make is softer as in "squishier", or does it change the tactile feel to it? Thanks again!
@lastfuckingaccount the folks at smoothon.com were very helpful to me. have you contacted them?
without slacker it is not tacky, and is more rigid. (about like a pencil eraser in firmness.) you can adjust the amount of slacker you add to make it softer/ more flexible/ more fleshlike. it does change the overall feel.
smooth on has a youtube account with good videos. search "smooth on slacker."
Ok, that's great to know. I'll just have experiment with the Dragon skin and slacker to get the feel I'm looking for. I haven't tried Smooth-on, but I've been to their site quite a few times. (I had emailed three other companies about similar products and got no response.) I'll take your advice and try contacting them. Thanks for all your help again. :]

I'm using this for a six-legged house robot, which has some parts that should be exactly like this.
You have more vids?
