hhhhmmm..i happen to think cats clean their fur just as much for simple cleanliness as that prey won't smell them.. As many cats as i've had myself, i know they don't like having any disorder in their fur..a kid comes and stokes their fur the wrong way around and they get annoyed and will fix it straight back again..i don't things are as simple as that with any creature in nature that the human being can just determine one simple fact about why a creature does this or that..

i hate scientists and people that base things to much on books and stuff rather than using their heart or brain.. cats dont greet u in the morning just to mark scent.. my cat very very rarely rubbs itself against me.. he is an indoor cat and because of that he is very intelligent about human behaviour.

example if i let him out in the garden and when i call it to come in, it rarely listens, but in the moring when i wake up and it hasnt seen me all night, when i call it will run to me and meow..

my cat Patches looks like a cougar. except she's a calico, but if she where the right color she would be a mini-cougar. My other cat Riley looks like a bobcat, at least in the face, but he has a big fluffy tail and he's orange. I used to have a cat named Stormy. He looked like a lion, except he was gray, he even had a little mane.

i think that house cats are the result of wild cats evolving after being bred in captivity over many many years. They did that with foxes and they eventually started to look and act more and more like dogs.

Try putting your hands behind you when u approach her; that way she won't feel you're going to pick her up.

If you're going to pick her up, try showing your palms before (slowly) picking her up--so she can brace herself for something she doesn't like, and feel better that you're giving her fair warning.

One good way of picking up a feline is: one palm on her chest, the other on the back of her hind legs.

Try always exposing palms & wrists when approaching--it seems to disarm many animals.

I'll tell you why! ^___^ The big cats' abitlity to roar stems from the replacement of the hyiod bone at the base of the tounge with pliable cartilage allowing greater freedom of movment.
