  • You only have to bend over as much as you would if you were deadlifting in order to use a good morning to help out your deadlift. When doing good mornings you must duplicate the action of your deadlift precisely. Straight from Louie Simmons, the best powerlifting coach in the world. And that's a fact. Not a full ROM? That's like saying if you're not defecit deadlifting then you're not deadlifting through a full ROM.

    well thats just stupid, look at elitefts and wsb good mornings, not all of them are done with depth you are writing about. also, that would mean they shouldn´t do lockouts, boardpresses, rack pulls, high box squats etc...

    This will be an exercise I will maybe add in 6 months, but not for now. Got enough with Rippetoe :)

  • it's best for me - with "no depth" but with weight I've made my best DL :-)

  • take some weight off and go further forward. You will work your hamstrings better which in turn will help you squat and deadlift more. I have squatted 210 raw and only use 90kg on this exercise. Just my two cents anyways.

  • Agreed. I usually use around 80-100kg but with a greater ranger of motion. My best raw squat is 260x3reps.

    I know it's tempting to add more weight, but less weight with better ROM and form is more benificial in my opinion.

  • I don't know ;-). My best rew squats are: 170kgx3 and 175kgx2. Wish I had stronger legs :-(

  • Wow. My best 1rm for squat is 305 and I can good morning 155 for 5 reps. But we are talking pounds, not kilos!. Wonder how much I will be able to squat when I can GM 190 pounds, much less kilos!

  • ur not doing the goodmornings full range of motion which is paralell anyone can do a heavy 3 inch good mornings like that

    are u trying to isolate gluts hamstrings or lower back

    either way ur form is off
