Nice playing. I'm sorry, but I don't like the instrument - great volume but a really unpleasant, hollow and tinny sound. You should be able to find a decent sounding wooden viola with a much warmer sound for around 3.000 dollars if you look around a bit.
I played this a couple of years ago. Thanks so much for the comments. I promise my playing (and my POSTURE!!!) has improved a lot since then. And the up-bow ending... I forgot to split my last four-note slur (should have been two two-note slurs) and had no choice after that but to end up-bow. I know, it's scandalous, but it's never happened since then :D
beautiful! You really got the idea that baroque music has light vibrato! I salute you! That was great! I want one of their carbon fiber violins.. I hear they're not as great as the cellos, but still nice
you play beautifully and with great intonation, but you really need to work on your posture...it's creating all kinds of strain on you back and shoulders and you can quite easily develop all sorts of problems that will forever prevent you from playing the viola....I'm just warning you...I have tendonitis and it makes it very difficult just to practice for more than and hour and a half at a time...
Something i've really noticed about the Luis and Clark carbon fiber instruments: they ALWAYS fill the entire room and give such a huge sound; they have such strong (rarely overpowering) harmonic overtones. Compared to other instruments they're really affordable, too (no i'm not paid to advertise the instruments)>
im going off to college soon so the carbon violas look interesting because of the cold. now im convinced that it wont comprimise my tone and sound. good job
you have a beautiful bow arm you're very loosend up, but hold ur head up and ur back up, it looks good in a performance, some of the bowings seem off also, u never end on an up bow in a piece, what copy of bach do u have?, also it seems very metronomic, you don't have to be so metronomic it's unaccompanied bach and u can play around with it, very nice though i'm also playing this piece rite now.
wow...your viola is pretty expensive, but yhe sound... EXELENT, i visit the luis and clark web side, and the instruments look really nice, i would like you tell me more about your viola please!!!
Great!!! A lot of other videos posted have much more separate bowings, but this slurring is excellent! Your bow arm/hand is great! A little suggestion is to hold the viola a little higher. It will help with intonation (which is a little bit off at times but might just be due to nerves.). Your tone was EXCELLENT. You certainly know how to get it. Great job!
Great sound! I liked the phrasing too- the only thing I could say is make sure you don't slow down. As I listened it just slowed down out of no where..keep up the tempo and only to rit. or what phrasing when appropriate. Very nice though.
That was beautifully played. I can play this on cello; I really like this movement.

great!
I play the violin myself, but love the sound of viola, too^^

i dislike how it randomly squeeks every now and then
i think the musician did fine, i blame it on either the strings or the instrument.

no, thats not how it works ;).

are these instruments as good as they're commented of? they sound a bit mechanical.
doesnt the "real" violin sound much sweeter than the carbon fiber violins? or is it just my ear that tells me this?
iplehguitar 2 years ago
@iplehguitar It's the player making the squeaks, the instrument is perfect, from a mechanical standpoint.

lawl you seem to regret a lot.
you look a bit scared. i bet if you were confident you'd be able to throw in a couple vibratos in there.
i thought you did great :D

This is one of my favorite Bach pieces. Caroline plays well. Best wishes to her.
Has anyone played a carbon fiber Double Bass? What is the volume and tone like? (If it can be described in words.)

Carbon fiber. Nice. I prefer old classical though, but carbon fiber is nice. Carbon is like one of my favorate elements.

You really play beautifully. I also liked the very short (11 second) clip of you and your father playing together.
