Thanks for your kind comment. Our ancestral home is Corfinio in the Abruzzo region of Italy. We think of Italy as our second land and visit as often as we can.
Ahhh, yes ... the food, the people, the vistas ... all good for the body and soul. But mostly for the food. Of all the years we have been going to Italy we only had one bad meal and bad service. In the non-touristy parts of Italy, time runs in slow motion. Boun'Italia.
Yes, I know what your mean. A day on a cruise is not enough to soak up the local color ... er, the local color is mostly tourists. But, if you walk back up the streets you will meet the locals. Thanks for posting a comment.
Oh, this brings back good memories. I was there several years ago, and will be returning this October. Your lovely video makes me even more eager to return.
Thank you for your kind words. October should be a good time. It might be late in the wine harvest season, but perhaps you might see something. Don't forget to try a little of the local Lemoncello. Most of it is for tourists, but perhaps you might find a local that will pour you the good stuff.
This video was made in July and we stayed at a hotel right in downtown Amalfi. Not cheap, but the location was great. Summer is always crowded, but more so in August when the Italians take a holiday. B&Bs up in the hills would be less expensive, but then you have to drive and parking is always a problem. My daughter liked the Hotel Miramare in Sorrento. Also, beaches along the coast tend to be pebbles rather than sand. have fun.
my husband and i researching a trip in july though i'm a bit worried that it's going to be really over-run with tourist and beaches really crowded. i this the case in mid july? would you recommend another month to visit where we could still get sun w/o the crowds? much thanks. lovely video!
Ahh yes, a place to be. We have been there twice and stayed in a hotel a few hundred feet from the Cathedral. Glad we could bring back a few memories.

The beach is not sand but small pebbles. It is a killer to walk on. And yes it is beautiful and they keep it very clean.
