Dear Miss Harteros - I'd like to meet you and introduce you to a simple Breathing Routine which gives one excellent breath control ..I think you'd find it useful for your beautiful voice, and give you wonderful new prospects -simsannabim.blogspot.com ...(.the system is used by Anna Larsson, Swedish contralto and many Swedish singers )...toi toi toi ...inspire9@talktalk.net
... Anja did very well here and I enjoy her performance here very much :)
but remember though....
people who can neither "sing" nor "teach" become critics... and we have LOTS of them here LOL!!!
I ... for one ... do not care much about what the critics say about singers that I enjoy.. these 'experts' should only allow to criticize others' singing if they can sing better...
Lamusicahera! This soprano does not sound like German! I live in Germany and i know how here the sopranos sing!! She has a soft, light but a powerfull voice!!!
and anyway why she has to be Spinto to sing the role?
She has a voice in the old style, that slightly guttural and metallic tone, the vibrato, the richness and power of the voice but without overpowering. Stylistically this is also an excellent rendition, especially the ability to shift from forte to piano and to shade the words with the correct emphasis. I'm really glad to see such a voice in our days, which makes me remind the great spintos of the past.
It is such a difficult thing to get this balance of squillo, that always touches the vocal cords on the verge of danger (almost guttural) and stay healthy. Let us hope she keeps up the good work.
She is someone to follow and see where, what she will reach...

She is all the time out of tone !!! don't you hear ??? Anyway, this is more a light soprano than the roles she is singing. Never Elisabetta, nor Wally.... encore moins the soprano in the Requiem !!!
Saw her Elsa in the premier of Munich's Lohengrin two weeks ago. She rocked! The rest of the cast was below her... Everyone agreed that it should have been called Elsa, not Lohengrin after that performance! She is amazing. And extremely outgoing! I have had the great honour of talking for a while with her, and she really has no problems holding back.

i still cannot get used to these new voices, i can't still find the beauty and lush of artists of the golden days of opera...she has pitch problems, will be another crash and burn opera star???

I am livingin N. Y. & I am travelling many times all around the world visiting operas....cause I write about Music.. I have been at the Met twice last days to listen carefully to A. Hartros! Can only say that she killed her voice!
Her breathing is like an old woman, dont know what it means to have a real good a healthy technique! A REAL HORROR LIKE THIS RECORD of La Wally which is never ever for her voice & boring temperament!
She have to sing Pamina,Lieder, Mimi, Nedda, all the liric roles!!!!
We saw her perform Violetta in La Traviata at the Met in New York last night. She was absolutely extraordinary. Her voice never faltered all the way through.
I do not think that her voice is exceptionally beautiful, but her performance is so dramatic, absolutely overwhelming. Exemplary phrasing with which she perfectly round up her image. A fabulous interpretation°

To Kryltoppa a Information: I am a man...have been a singer (tenor) I am not singing anymore...but this girl is ruining her german lirico Bergneustadt voice with this to dramatic stuff! And her records are totally boring! But her Arabella and Mimi have been better! Didnt she sing Pamina? A shame for a german soprano! HAHAHAHAHAHA She named herself BELLA VOCE! A joke comes through Hochschulesoprano

To listen to a real SPINTOSOPRANO go on:
ELENA PANKRATOVA! Wow this is real amazing and spintosinging not this little chicken A.H. a german Hochschulsopranosinger! But all the best to all her fans ... Her Mimi has been better...but she is not pretty enough... OK she lost weight ... and she becomes a voicekiller .... OK next she will be Lady Macbeth and Gioconda! HAHAHAHAHAHA!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Very interesting that I am not alone... Think the music industrie & she by herself are not very intelligent with her repertoire! For me she has started better as a lirico-Mozartsoprano (Pamina would be better & Ilia too) the only reason why she sing this is that they called her a lirico-spinto! A Joke! I saw her Alcina/Traviata /Boheme/Liederrecital & she sounds like an old lirico -the tops: screeming & she lost her legato! Now she sings DON CARLO ! Maybe next Lady Macbeth & Gioconda?
O my god. Get a life already. What the hell is the matter with you going around Youtube badmouthing all clips of Anja Harteros? You are behaving like a raving lunatic! So you don't like her voice. TOUGH! Nobody cares what you think anyway!
Be careful who you want to publicly back up, andreasscholl. Go and look at all the other clips of Anja Harteros and you should be alarmed at the extent of what this Heraopera person is doing. She is obsessed with bashing Harteros (and not only on her singing! This woman has a vendetta against Harteros as a person!).
Criticizing a singer's singing is one thing. Engaging in a sustained campaign of harassment and defamation against the person is quite another thing altogether.

I dont like the turn she did with all this big repertoire like Desdemona Evchen and Elisabeth Wagner, not only for the reason, that the voice is not Spinto enough, she is a big german lyric soprano... she cant sing the big Verdiroles and Wagner and I agree she is copying the Callas gestures! What a horror very stupid and ugly Person...Not to forget, that she is many times very shrill on her tops.... this is live the same....
I had the privilage to hear sing mimi in Berlin, she is fantastic in my opinion. This recording isn't the most flattering but please grow up, stop looking for the flaws and just enjoy the music.

There's such aristocratic presence to the voice. Such elegant musicianship is always welcome to my ears.

Heraopera is right darling!
Not as critique at you, NOT attacking...so be nice to me!
Harteros is/was such a beautiful singer, the voice as it was..years a go, will die as she continues to sing THIS reportoire!
Sutherland, and more go before her, singing to their sixties.
I'm not so shure if she will last in this way!
Sorry.

My dearest, I KNOW when I hear a GOOD singing voice...so DON'T be affraid!
Harteros I admire for her soprano!
Such critics are foolish people.
I am worried to lose a BEAUTIFUL soprano.
A talent singer, but we need to take care!
And NOT ruin a GIFT, and that is what she is.
A gift!
Let's hope the good ones come out, and bad ones stay away...
X Andreas.

OMG what happend to this beautiful voice?
Anja is starting to lose it....
Why doesn't Cardiff coach these singers?
If she stays in this TO heavy reportoire, the voice will die soon.
Intonation is bad, and she gets white in the middle register.
NOT al Callas, sorry to say!
Sing more Handel and Mozart sweetheart, and stay away from Verdi!
