You need to turn off widescreen for 5MP resolution probably. That's how regular cameras work . They usually crop out the image captured by the sensor (usually non-widescreen aspect) to give you a widescreen shot.
It appears to be an app limitation that's likely based on the hardware the app was intended to work with. I'm going to do some more testing though and see what kind of quality/resolution I get using that app.

Since Flash Lite works in the SenseUI.. does it work in the Droid Port?

Tried that and no luck :(
