Can't wait until I'm that good but I do have as my only criticism to say for beginners bouncing when you stretch is a bad idea as it is very easy to overstretch accidentally and fuck your tendons up
Now that you started reading this you have to finish it and if you don't you will get the curse. 10 years ago some kids got the curse and died the night they fell asleep. Repost this to 20 videos or else you will get the curse
@dylankarate well when you first starting out make sure your stretches is good this video sopost to be for advanced stretch when you confident that you can stretch your leg for long then try on the wall make sure your leg is not to close to the wall the distance should be 2 to 3 feet away from the wall am not good with how long the measre is but if your advanced then you can lean on the wall closer cuss your leg will get used to it already but for no just do alot stretches it takes long time
Ballistic stretching is useless: -A stretch cannot be adjusted or corrected once started. -May result in immediate as well as residual pain.
-Fails to provide sufficient time for the tissues to adapt to a stretch. -Aggravates and actually encourages a stronger stretch reflex response decreasing the chance of progressively increasing flexibility
I'd forgotten about that. But, basically, unless you do ballistic stretching perfectly, you aren't getting anywhere with it. And it's hard to do that.
To be honest, though, her bobbing is pretty slow. That could be some weird static/dynamic hybrid, the way she's doing it.
LOL I did! The funny thing is that my own wushu instructor used the classic static stretching and "ballistic" stretching routines before classes. After a while I convinced him that those methods weren't effective and we even did an experiment to see if changing routines so that dynamic stretching would come before the main section of the class and static stretching last. After awhile, the rest of the students' progress increased greatly.
Flexibility is a beginner aspect, in most if not all Martial arts. If you are not flexible, you can not get into the stances to even start learning the basics beyond them.
... In saying that, Im old and not very flexible myself anymore, it will take a good few months, before I can even get back to being close to imaging doing a split or this side stretch.
I saw this video and emulated the technique and, fighting through the excruciating pain, performed it most admirably. I'm unable to walk unaided now but that's ok. That's ok.
Start small and slow in the morning and throughout the day. At the end of the day you'll be further than you were in the morning. Also, inhale deep on release but exhale as you stretch. This helps blood flow and allows a deeper stretch. Only bounce like this after you have stretched out.
just practise doing the splits like when you first try a split go as far as you can then ever day try to stretch a little more then in about a week or 2 you should be able to do a split it depends on how much you stretch
there is a better way to get to a full split for a beginer then just going as far as you can into the split, expecially if they aren't very flexable. the way you instructed will just get then to have muscle memory of a split, not true flexiblity. message if you want more info, i've been doing wuhsu for five years (and counting) and i am at an advanced level. lol, not trying to be a showoff, cause that's not who i am.
@hakuboshi1 hahah to masters that is biginers advanced level you put your leg up wivout leaning on nothin if u thnk ths is hard thnk again theirs more to it

It seems to work for her or else she wouldn't have reached that level. I guess results speak for themselves?

You shouldn't bob back in forth like that. Ballistic stretching is useless.
TheRimeOfIcarus 2 years ago
It's not useless. It is, however, easier to screw up than other types of stretching.

-Fails to provide sufficient time for the tissues to adapt to a stretch. -Aggravates and actually encourages a stronger stretch reflex response decreasing the chance of progressively increasing flexibility
Dynamic stretching however is very useful.
