  • Just a comment about paints..haha ive heard the more white on a paint, the dumber they are. and so far i think its true XD

  • I work with an 11 year old paint and he still acts like hes 3, lol. Hes just spoiled and a little boy at heart. Not all paint are at all crazy. Ive worked with good tempered and crazy ones. It just depends on the horse.

  • Clinton Rocks! His training methods are common scense and NO his not violent! Do you think the horse gies a crap if he / she threw u off and hurt u....um NOPE! His not hitting the horse on the neck for absolutly no reason there is a method behind it! And people who think his a bad rider like to see you try and get on a green horse thats unbalanced ahs really no idea of what your asking and then we will see how nice you ride! IDIOTS!

  • Well, this horse IS a paint..Every paint I've ever worked with has acted like a complete and total nutcase. I'm not at all saying all paints are like that, just like not all Arabs are hot and crazy, and not all Quarter Horses are ploddy, but, it's in their nature. In my opinion, Clinton handled this extremely well. And, he's not hitting the horse for no reason. He's tapping it on the neck over by the wall so it's not tempted to go over and try to jump it again. He only does it in that one area.

  • @BarebackRider13 seriously, i ride two paints, one is 10 the other is 6, and they both mellow and amazing riding horses.

  • @painthorselover101 Of course. I'm not saying all paints are crazy. The ones I've worked with have been, and I have quite a few friends that are trainers that agree. However, there are some fantastic paints out there, as I'm sure yours are. Just gotta find the right ones!

  • ok lets face it there's many different ways to train a horse and everyone thinks there way is right, so insead of telling everyone they are wrong or right (this may sound bad or may pisss people off) Don't tell people how to train or own animals i wouldnt tell you how to raise your kid would eye. it may seem like im saying turn a blind eye but im not after all there is a dislike botton for a reason :)

  • I agree with Clinton, but this does not work on every horse (using the crop I mean). With my horse, all you need to do to get her to focus is back her up. No, she was not trained like this. Different horses need different methods, which Clinton is starting to do now.

  • Wonderful work Clinton Anderson!

  • Just typical know it all's that know fuck all!!! Id like to see all you cockhead spastic's that call yourself riders try to get this horse to do what you want. WANKERS!!!!

  • To all the negative posters...GET A CLUE! To all the positive posters... YEAH WHAT YOU SAID, y'all ALL got it right! CA is the best and communicates his methods in the best way. YOU GO CLINTON!!! I BACK YOU 100%!!!!!!!

  • i submitted my gelding Rodeo(i was 8 when i named him :P) for the Seattle 2011 stop! he is so herd bound and disrespectful, he rears and will try and run sideways. he doesnt just rear once and is done its rear up once his front feet touches the ground he goes up again! im hoping Clinton will choose him and help me figure out why he is doing this(his tack all fits him!) and how to get him more respectful!

  • whips/crops etc are supposed to be used as an extension of the hand. like a spank for speed or a tap to get attention. clinton uses this tool properly.

  • Nicely done. It's better than watching young riders at the local Jymkanna rip the bit back and forth or pull the horses head around as they spook. I've been using a variation of Clinton Anderson's Method and I'm loving it.

My horse, Sophie Anne, would say the same if she could as she is calming down well, when I got her you couldn't touch her now you could practically get on her, though, I don't condone it because of her age.

  • People who think he is beating the horse have no idea what beating really is. No tool should be abused, ever. He is using the crop as an extension of the arm and teach the horse to give to pressure. Try telling a 1200 lb frightened and disrespectful animal to "pretty please with a cherry on top." I HATE animal abuse as much as the next avid animal lover and this just is not abuse. A horse does way more damage asserting him/herself in the pecking order of the herd so people need to quit the BS.

  • Clinton Anderson ROCKS! :D

  • such a pretty horse

  • @ all the complaining people: Does this horse looks hurt to you? I would say no

Ofcourse you can ride without whip or spore, that's what I prefer myself BUT Clinton is a good rider so please pay him a little respect.

If you wanna do good then nag on people who disrespect and hurt their animals ;)

    b.t.w. Courtney11286, nice vid ^^

  • @isaidmootwo hahaha lol You are soo right. this horse needs more time and a lot of ground work. There are no bad horses, just horses thet need help.

  • pretty horse :]

  • to hiddenseeker424. he is not trying to bend the horse he is trying to get it to give to the pressure. when he pulled the left rein the horse went right so he used the whip on the horses right shoulder so he will give to the rein and move away from the whip. the horse is not following his nose through the turn and that is the whole point of the exercise.

  • My horse is doing something very similar. So, thank you so much for uploading this. I think it will really help me. :)

  • I like Clinton Anderson the best out of horse trainers like, Dennis Reis, Craig Cameron, Pat and Linda Parelli etc.

  • @BarrelRacer955 me too! hes the easiest to relate to

  • @horsepower13579 I know. lol Well he explains it more too. And gives you a real life example to help you understand what he is doing.

  • I personally wouldn't choose to get a horse's bending problems under control this way (my horse had them when I first got him, and they were solved using dressage rather than a whip), but I'm certainly not in any position to criticize Clinton! My methods might not work for every horse!

  • lol that was so funny! my cousin and her friend kept buggin my aunt when she wanted to watch it xD

  • i was here (:

  • Great video !!! I love his methods, and a lota john lyons too.. :P Uh, who said he was beating the horse ? Using a stick is not beating... C'mon a crop isn't going to harm a horse unless incorrectly used... I.E. giving it to a green as grass kid and telling them to tally ho.. yeah that'd be ugly. But he is merely riding the horse! No beating there! Obviously someone hasn't seen a truly beaten horse.. Go check out race tracks for that~

  • oh good grief....please....clinton anderson is not beating the horse. he is dealing with an extremely obnoxious and dangerous animal. if you LISTEN to what he is saying, he is telling everyone that this horse should not even be ridden at this point. It needs a great deal more groundwork before a rider gets back on it. to the nay-sayers: have you watched a clinton anderson demonstration live? I have. do not judge unless you have been there! it's obvious you have not. watch one on my page.

  • hey buddy here... Think about it. The horse in the video is rought 1000 pounds. He weighs roughly 9 times the rider... How its sometimes hard to hurt a horse even if yer trying. I have my major douts that hes trying OR hurting the horse.

just thought you may like to know.

  • i thought he was using the whip because you turn a horse from the outside. A horse as stiff as this is a tad dangerous straight.

  • He's kind of... Board like...

  • hes hitting the horse on the neck because he doesnt want the horse to rear hes trying to keep his feet moving so he doesnt stop and rear back and fall over

  • Clinton handled that very well. And he's not "hitting the horse on the neck with a whip" for no reason. The horse took off with him and tried to jump out of the arena. He's simply using the crop to get the horse to focus on what he was asking him to do and oh look - it worked. If you have an issue with it, don't watch the video.

  • Okay well again if you have an issue with it, don't watch the video.

  • ya clintons a great trainer you think if the horses didnt like him they could of probably injured him or shown that they dont like him by not listening to him

  • i dont got time to deal with u people if u dont understand whats going on then dont watch clintons videos hes not beating the horse he has a driving whip and hes tapping the neck to keep him going if you were on a horse that was like this i doubt u would just sit there and let the horse jump and buck and try to jump over fences.

  • Okay, this video is posted here for people who are fans of Clinton Anderson to watch and enjoy. For the third time, if you don't like it, DON'T WATCH IT. No one wants to hear your opinion, so please refrain from posting here again or I will block you.

  • @Courtney11286 if you only want people who agree with your views about this person to view this video then why don't you just send it to your friends? Unfortunately by posting this to You Tube you will inevitably expose yourself to the derision of those with enough knowledge of horses to see this display for precisely what it is.

  • Comment removed

  • ok, so if your horse was standing out in a pasture next to a horse...and that horse pinned it's ears turned around and kicked your horse in the ribs....how badly do you think your horse is gonna be injured? not much i can tell you. so a human that ways about a tenth of what a horse does isn't gonna do much damage.

  • lol, well spoken!

  • you have to be assertive with a horse and more than likey you have a well trained horse so what do you say to the people where the horses bite them and take of chunk of their arm out humm pet them and tell them it is ok? no you smack them in the nose. but you know what i would rather have a well trained horse who listens than a horse who is going to take advantage of me. what do you do when a child does not listen you correct them. so that is what you do with horses also.

  • @jackrussel0123 oh shutup allready stop bin stupiid any1 who is half gud wit a horse wold seee thet the whip or stik is 4 guidance and cum and show me all the stuff clinton can do on ur horse...bet that wold fail...cos he wis obviouslty a much betta rider then u!!!!!= ]

  • @XxDaInTyxX98 bod spillers ov the wurld unti! hahaha

  • @chaos0691 he wold be on the ground 2 sec flat = ]

  • @jackrussel0123 he is NOT beating this horse.

  • He is not beating his horse. Do you think that stick can hurt that horse even half as much as another horse kicking it in the field? Get real!!

  • @painthorselvr1 LOL excellent point ;) hahaha Ive worked with horses who HAVE been beaten... SEVERELY. Ive had horses come to me with scars all over them (others are more mentally scared). You can tell by the horses reaction that hes NOT being beaten. Hes not scared. hes not even listening to the tapping very much LOL

  • @jackrussel0123 it's called doing what you need to do to get the job done, being black and white, the horse understands what he needs to do because he's making the right thing easy and the wrong this difficult, not nagging at the horse, how do you think Diez and Mindy got so good? his method

  • jackrussel0123 ,Wherever you go, there will be always somebody to criticize, even the best of rider!! What you say proves that you know absolutely nothing about his working techniques. Do you prefer rogrigo pessoa (who) massacres the mouth and the tendons of the horses? You really know nothing about horses, and your useless and stupid opinion will not make us change! Neither me, nor the fans of Clinton Anderson

  • @jackrussel0123 I agree with courtney... you are not a good judge. Why?? hes NOT beating the horse. Somehow I SO doubt that you've ever been with in ten feet of a horse let alone worked with the most dangerous ones... like *I* have. We buy horses at auction from the rodeo circuit. Broncs! And I turn them around into good horses... I know good horseman ship when I see it. this man is NOT hurting that horse, hes using a tool as a guide. NOT a weapon as your accusing him of.

  • If you don't liek the assertive method of getting respect form your horse, don't watch anything at all, or be a parelliite and follow his crap.

  • im sorry but u dont seem to understand that most natural horsemanship methods are based on the exact same methods and principles....what do u have against parrelli?? im not bias to anyone i enjoy watching anyone who can do such amazing things with horses but as far as i have seen parrelli's methods are good.

  • @jackrussel0123

    Honey YOUR the wrong one...

Stop watching if you dont like..

    haha use your head.

  • @jackrussel0123 This is not violence and if you knew anything about horses and riding you would know what any amazing trainer Clinton Anderson is. What makes you think he is a terrible rider? I really doubt you can ride better than him. He is using the stick as an aid to get the horses attention. It is not hurting the horse. Try knowing something about horses before posting really rude and obnoxious comments about a wonderful horse trainer like Clinton Anderson.

  • @jackrussel0123 i would like to see u do that i havent seen him do 1 violent thing to mindy

  • @jackrussel0123 ......obviously, the outcome of Clinton Anderson's training method worked. How about you try training a horse from taking off on you and try to keep him from jumping a fence. Don't dis Clinton. He's just doing his job and he's great at it, probably unlike you would ever be able to do. Yea, see? I bet you don't like to be judged. So don't judge others.

  • @jackrussel0123 Parelli supporter. HE DOESN'T TRAIN A HORSE WITH VIOLENCE. You don't understand the concept of a horse. You people who think he 'abuses' horses are totally wrong. He starts out with a warning to the horse and then if he has to he'll spank them. Do you know what would happen to a horse in the wild if he was disrespectful? Probably get killed by the alpha. A horse recently had to be put down because of injuries to another horse because he was very disrespectful.

  • @Courtney11286 wow... another person who doesn't have a clue.... do you have any idea what a horse being hit with a whip reacts like?? Geeze... if that horse was being HIT he wouldn't just be subtly turning in a circle. Hes being tapped on the neck and shoulder as a TOOL. Thats like saying that someone you see patting their kid on head they are beating them. Btw... how many abused antisocial or skittish horses have you rehabilitated????

  • @avshorse1234 If you notice, the only times he hits the horse on the neck is when he is trying to keep the horse moving in one direction, and the horse trys to bolt, and move the other way. Imagine a line right at the base of the neck. Anything behind that line encourages the horse to go forward. Anything in front of that line encourages turning, depending on the side. So when he is tapping the right side of the neck, it is to encourage the horse to move away from that, and control the direction

  • @avshorse1234 If it gets the horse to follow his nose, yes. Get over it.

  • @avshorse1234 If you knew anything about horses you would know that hitting the horse like that is to get the horses attention on you. Secondly this DOESN'T cause the horse any pain. To cause a horse any form of pain you would have to hit them with a blow equivalent to one horse kicking another with it's back feet. And if you knew anything about horses you would know that delivering a blow that hard is difficult and many horses don't even do it. What Clinton Anderson is doing is phenomenal.

  • @avshorse1234 he didnt hit the horse in the neck he taped the horse in the neck to get its attention get a clue about horses

  • @avshorse1234....how about let's see you handle a horse who wants to take off on you and be disobedient and attempt to jump a fence. I bet you would just yank back on the reins (yes, I observe and watch people...I work as a riding instructor at a ranch in Missouri and it's really common among a majority of people). I agree with Courtney11286...Clinton handled it very well. And for your information, you wouldn't believe how many people use his methods.

  • @avshorse1234 u probably ride english lol XD

  • @avshorse1234 Yea what a terrible horse person..getting a horse to respect him.. lets all just not hit horses and treat them like dogs! (: Ha its peopl like you that i love to watch their horses hurt them due to respect issues

  • such an ignorant horse... but my god is he pretty!

  • Does anyone know if this is one of Clinton's own horses or does it belong to someone else?

  • I was there and it was horsemanship at it's best. Truly impressive.Orville Davis

  • uh luckyyy! i love clinton anderson!!!!!=]

  • I did not see this demonstration, but I wish I had! This guy is awesome. He has a straight-forward approach to training, and one can see the need for ground work prior to saddle work, especially with this horse. Loved the way he kept the feet moving on that horse! Did anyone see the Friday afternoon session? That was great, too. Please check out my video of Clinton Andersons' Saturday afternoon demonstration.

  • I was there too... this was GREAT. Most memorable part of the Equine Affaire IMHO. Glad you caught it on video. I only got a short piece of it. Thanks for sharing! C.A. is awesome! He's so inspiring.

  • I loved that part!!!

    "lets fix this pig "

    "somone get me a whip"
