Nobody in here has either car in their garage if not you'd be out smiling in the moonlight while you searched for new better roads. Why can't people (all of you people who quarrel) begin conversations assuming that everybody's entitled to their personal opinion. Realistically, if any of us had the money for any of these here 2 cars...we'd end up buying another car to turn into our daily driver. Personally, i'd like to buy an iron block m3 e46 and personally take it to HPF in oregon.
What makes you think that the ZR1 "lacks engineering." Full carbon-fiber body Carbon fiber. brake-disk Carbon fiber drive-shaft magnesium rims Titanium con-rods with alloy forged crank forged alloy pistons with thermal coating Variable cam control w/ 7000 rpm rev-limit (developes 469 ft/lbs tq at IDLE!!) Computer controlled "magnetic" suspension (The list goes on....) Please read-up before saying something stupid about engineering.
Here you go, another Youtuber implicitly saying that another person is stupid. This is all you can do hah? Who the hell do you think you are? A genius scientist? Yes, I am aware of the parts you listed.... but fancy, expensive parts don't mean top notch engineering. Expensive parts are expected to be in expensive cars. That's common sense. What I meant by lack of engineering was less engineering. It seems as though many manufacturers resort to power to compete. Power isn't pure engineering.
You are only using excuses to justify what you are doing to people on a regular basis - with all the ridiculing that is. Merely correcting errors? You have gotten so disdainfully ahead of yourself that you don't realize how boastful you sound anymore. It's nice that you can list these items, but all you need to do is read from websites that list those specs. Your main purpose was to patronize, not to correct. I wasn't trying to be biased because I am stupid. I did it to see how ppl would react.
You must an overconfident, pompous, arrogant "smart ass." All you do is go around thinking you are a smart ass and everyone else except you is stupid. Assuming that others are stupid doesn't prove anything except arrogance. If you think you're smart because you "research" by reading, then you're kidding yourself. There are many ways to prove intelligence - like actually going to buy a real ZR1 or GTR (not in video games) and doing real lab research - not calling others stupid.
Dont be so "touchy". I was merely "correcting" errors and blatant discrepancies in some of the statements posted. (Musn't allow the general public to be mislead, you know.) Furthermore.... I will humbly retract any prior statements, IF you can dispute them with actual proof, and not "bias" speculation, that is
P.S. In the phrase, "you must an overconfident...", you forgot the word "be".
Corrected, it should state.. "You must BE an over-confident, pompous, arrogant, "smart-ass"....
Missing words don't need to be corrected. I pause a lot when I type and go do other things so the mistakes are there sometimes. If you are calling me biased, then you are also biased. I wanted to be biased to see how a ZR1 fanboy would react because all I see around here are domestic fans belittling GTR and GTR fans defending. Domestic fans respond with hostility and patronizing statements. You are here to bash other people because you are bored with life and feel the need to attack people.
I wont deny the accusations...Im quite Biased. However, I wont bend the truth or intentionally misquote stats to push the arguement in my favor. I am sickened by The "Brain-washed" millions of ricer, "Paul-Walker" faithful who believe that American sports cars are good for a staight line and garbage otherwise. These people love to attack American engineering and but get "hurt" when "truth" attacks back.
P.S. I noticed that you havent come up with any facts to counter my prior statements.
It's not that I'm too much of a moron (like you think) to "counter" you. I realized long ago that with arrogant people like you who think they're always correct, it's only foolish and futile to try to argue. If you didn't want "the public to be mislead," those ZR1 fans/Japanese haters already are. Look at all the endless ways they come up with to attack GTR. I learned not to deal with people who think they're perfectly right all the time.
As you continue to assume that I am a biased, brain washed dumbass, the world has grown to do other things than to brag about their brains on Youtube. You see I like the ZR1 as much as the GTR, honestly. I'm not "hurt" when "truth" attacks back. You are denying the fact that you are using this opportunity to personally insult me. If you want me to give you props for spending time reading about cars, that's not gonna happen. I will do so if you show me that you own a real ZR1/GTR.
I am not biased or brainwashed like you think. As said before, I like the 2 equally. It's just that I see too much hateful and biased comments against GTR, so I wanted to test the waters and see how reactions would result. Hey, you can say ricers (I'm not) are biased for bashing American engineering and believing they're only good for straight line. There is also equally if not more hate from domestic lovers. You know all that garbage about Japanese cars having low quality, no name, and more
About 14 years before the Paul Walker/Fast and the Furious ERA. The nissan skyline entered austrailia and won 27 straight group A races. The skyline was then Banned from Group A racing In australia Because no one could beat it. The same happened in Europe and the Middle East. Now all over the World The GTR is not allowed to Participate in Groupe N or Group A racing. America Should Man up and Let the GTR Participate in American GT group A and see what happens LOL!!!
Bashing people and writing biased, hostile comments at the same time are not ways to prove intelligence or class. I doubt you would "humbly" retract any statements if I dispute. You see because no matter what I say, I sense that you will create excuses to justify your actions and bash me even more. It's ironic that you would call me biased because you are also biased. Just because you list things, doesn't mean you're playing fair, because you're still only listing ZR1 specs.
I have listed plenty of "stats" for both vehicles. Everthing thing from track-times, to powertrain layout, to chassis specs. I do NOT make excusses, I state facts.
And even though its irrelevent, its exactly as you have said... I am very Biased. But then again, who here, (including myself), isnt.
Mustn't allow the General Public to be mislead? You have done so by patronizing CHevy. This Chevy vehicle gets better MPG than this Honda! read the fine Print... And read a book while you're at it.
The Mag wheels was coined do the the fact that they where Made from Magnesium in the 80's
every jap car on the market has a Forged crank
Variable cam control =Vtec or Vanos or VVTL-i or Mivec etc.
Only Japanese trucks have lower red lines than 7000rpm
Magnetic suspension was developed by bose. Thats right. the guys who make the speakers. And theres a video where they tested these suspensions on early 90's Levus Ls400's.
Go back further and youll find out that Magnesium wheel were used by Ford formula-1 race cars in the 1960s. Youll also find out that Ford also was responsible for the "pent-roof" cylinder head design used by ALL moderen OHC engines today.
Mag wheels wheer used on production Vehicles making them more common hence coining the word "Mag wheels". Pent roof cylinderheads where designed after the hemi and are basicaly the same thing. one is a dome and one is a cone.
Chevy was the first to use "Forged Cranks" in thier 327 motors back in the 1960 for thier corvettes
and Rhetomagnetic shocks were first used in the early 1980s Corvette c-4s
And Chevy developed a de-stroked 302 engine in the late 1960's that was well capable of 10,000rpms and over 410hp by virtue of its specialty designed "cross-ram" Smokie Eunich intake and duel carbs.
Everything Just named was all thanks to a Man Named Zora Arkus-Duntov who was not an American but a Jewish Russian. He is Also Know as the Father of the Corvette. So the Corvette is as American as ??? Vodka.
The gearbox and AWD of the GTR are superior to the ZR1's manual. Gear changes are similar to the DKG of Audi/VW. There's no power letup during shifts that's why at low speeds the GTR can keep up with faster cars
this is so funny every single time, people who support japanese imports or other imports, every time they get beat, they use the excuse, "oh a six cylinder kept up with a 8 or 10 cylinder" or when they beat a stock american muscle car with their twin turbo 40 psi boost cars they say that proves theirs is faster, sounds like another word for ricers is hypocrite
The GTR is a car of street specs while ZR1 is a tuned out car with race specs. Nissan actually did involve extensive engineering when it designed GTR. All GM did was put a bigger engine on a super light car with world class brakes. GTR is a better pound for pound, bang for buck car. How many heavy 4-seaters with AWD and V6 engine of this price range do you know that can perform this well?
I'm not kidding myself. I know the GTR was developed extensively. I wasn't saying that Nissan just burped it out. I was comparing the difference between their chassis. I was admiring how the GTR can perform so well for a heavy 4 seater, which proves that it was properly engineered. Why do so many people have these huge egos with them that prevents them from having normal conversations? I mean, do you have to add stuff like "Don't kid yourself," "You retard," etc?
Actualy the CHevy guys have done everything the can to Deface the Japs because the Japs own the auto market. New and used. Chevy slander Honda with the MPG comercials involving Howie Long. "this chevy gets better MPG than this Honda!" Try to read the fine print in that comercial.... See what I'm sayin? "But there is one thing we can't compare to is this!"(honda Lawn Mower) Honda also makes a machine called the Honda CBR-RR(that's like one too many R's) Honda also makes Jet ski's!
Is it any less true. GM vehicles are currntly some of the most fuel efficient vehicles on the road.
They have the most fuel efficient Pick-up and SUV's around. They also have some o the most fuel efficient sub-compacts on the street today.
Even the Flag-ship Corvette ZR1 still makes 20mpg hyw with forced induction.
I am well aware of Honda's achievements and Im not going criticize them out of bias, but our domestic automive engineering is every bit as capable as ANYTHING from over seas.
Actually we brag when our 4bangers at 40 lbs of boost beat your muscle cars. And when a foreign 6 beats or keeps up with your 8's or 10's then we actualy see that as fair game. I would like to have a GTR for a race car and a stock Vette convertible for a daily driver. I like the Vette Cabriolet. (Cabriolet sounds so gay after the word vette)
I think you misunderstood me. I am a car fan. That means all cars. I am not just an american muscle guy, I appreciate all cars. I'm not a ricer.Basically that means that I don't like civics and cheap cars with mods. Now the GTR is a great car. I think the technology is awesome. a 0-60 time and a quarter mile time from a dead stop really isn't a way to compare STREET cars. Even raced a ferrari rolling that supposedly ran 12's? U see what I mean. The GTR=awesome but I have others i like more
The GTR is better to me it proves more to me 3.8 4 pass (heavy) VS, 6.0 2 pass super light,And it still holds its own with the odds against it,I cant wait till they see the spec-V lmao!!!
don't get me wrong, i'm not your enemy like some of the other muscle guys are, i would love to own a gtr for a daily driver, but all this fighting about pure performance, even though the gtr is a better car i'd rather have my viper for no holds barred performance, i'll give props to imports when they deserve it
corvette has to be pushed to the limit to come up with better numbers than nissan... on the drag strip... GTR would win hands down as its easier to launch unlike corvette... you get one chance, if you get it right in the vette, you'll only keep up with nissan, but since you wont have the comfort of launching many times to get the right launch... reality is GTR would win !
TCS on the vette yeilds lower 1/4mile times. They had to turn it off in order to get those numbers. Vette with TCS turned on would go 0-60 in like 5.6. GTr cannot be launched wrong. it has Launch control. where you stand ond the brake with your left foot, mash the gas with your right, and when you let go of the brake you do consistent times.
Haha!! *Snicker* The launch control keeps the revs at around 4000rpm and the tranny has a very nice warranty. Did you think we where going to launch at 8000rpm? Read a Brochure every once in a while.
Thats nice, BUT your forgetting that was part of the revisions to the launch control AFTER 2009. Before then, the cars were busting trannies left and right
When was the R35 Debut? was it after 2009? we're talking R35's here right? and where do you get access to TSB's if you are not a tech that works for Nissan?
Look at the 0-60 times is the same 3.8 the gtr with at least 120 horses less and with 350 lbs more of weight runs side by side with the best corvette has to offer.
If you check the vid you will see we are all laughing @ you nissan owners.. Dont get me wrong it is a bad ass car but the only reason its fast is because it awd.......make that same vette w/awd and your talking under 3sec 0-60 So shut the fuck up.
Make a vette with chevys all wheel drive technology and you'd only make things worse HAHAHA!! the Vette would be Garbage with all wheel drive LOL!!! ANd I don't think Nissan would let CHevy Borrow their attessa all wheel drive sytem. so Vette+ allwheel drive= Garbage.
You obviously dont have any prowess as an engineer do you. What exactly do you know about AWD vehicle telemetry?
Im cant sufficiently lecture any further on this simply due to the fact that I dont have the texting space to explain the function and use of wheel-speed "Hall-effects", Yaw, lateral and inertial type sensors that come into play for such systems.
And FYI, Ford and Chevy uses a similar system for stability control on thier AWD SUV's. "Attessa" is nothing new. Go read a book.
So can you design one from scratch with all electronic components working perfectly within six months for the debut of the GTR spec V? Attessa is not new it is 20 years old. But it is one of the only in the world that has fullpower to one wheel capabilities. Ford would probably be the one most likeley to rival it but they havn't. The Attessa system today is 10 times more active than it was in 89. And CHevy has nothing they could use to even come close to it. It's like an inch vs a mile.
I actualy said that the Vette would win in Sweeping turns and High speed straights.where it would have less weight and more horse power where traction would not be an issue.
Dont forget, the ZR1 also has nearly twice the braking power of the GTR, which translate to better entry speeds and better decelleration rates at the apex.
The Mosler you speak of is a car built by tuners. Moslers are considered kit cars. Its the only way you can Legalize them. The land shark is also a Multi fuel car. The Engine had everything but the block replace by exotic materials. And the Old M900 used a ford V6 twin turbo before they swithched ti the LS v8. Very fast car regardless of the motor. Have you Ever Heard of Mines or Power House Amuse? They do simple stuff but they have some pretty Mean, Low dissplacement street Machines. 600hp+
Its not the car, but the drivetrain that I was exhaulting.
The point that I was making is that the Chevy LS has the durable design and dependable nature needed to even permit a daily-drivable 2500hp car to even be built.
There are not a lot of motors on this planet that posses the versatility and ease of modification of the Chevy small-block. The engineering is bulletproof.
Mosler, Factory five racing, koenigssigg, Ultima and quite a few other kit-car makers chose chevy for that reason
I attack the Integrity of Chevy and you attack Mine? I don't beleive that is how a debate works. Attesa ET-s is far greater than just traction control and stability control. It is everything combined into one system and it is Fast Computing.Attesa ET-s has the ability to turn the rear wheels and put all the engines power into one wheel if necessary. I've noticed that the Tone of your comments have changed greatly, from very high and angry to low and passive. Have you conceded?
during hot rods drag week a sn95 mustang was running 9's reliably and avg'ing 38mpg over the whole week of street time and racing, they travelled a 1000 miles that week
Woaa... Calm down there sparky. Dont get tampon twisted. Its not like a slapped your grandma or something.
Ahem... I stand partially corrected. The duramax is indeed an Iron block motor. It was the ill-fated 4.5l that was to use a compacted graphite block. My mistake...
ZR1 fans are scared. When their car beats GTR, they never talk about the price difference and the lack of engineering put into the Vette. Then when spec V will undoubtedly beat ZR1's ring time, they say, "Spec V is more expensive." GM can sell ZR1 for much cheaper than rival European super cars because they didn't put much engineering into it. All they did was put crap loads of HP and big brakes into a light car.
As a fan of both cars, I would say that they're not scared. Neither are the GTR people. Each fan truly believes their cars are the best. The two cars couldn't be more different, so it's understandable why each person thinks theirs is better.
zr1 sounds good

Hey, your the one that has implied that GM, if not American engineering in general, is defunct.
Youve bashed, at length, the compitency of american car companies and thier ability to produce good hardware.
GTR vs ZR1.
Assuming that both cars are gutted and caged, with weight reductions of perhaps 300lbs per car with stock engines...
GTR- better at high-speed apex exit w/ lower straight away
ZR1- better at straight away and high speed apex entry
Verdict.. depends on track

You are incorrect...
The ZR1 was driven by a GM engineer named "Jim Mero" when it made its record run. The car was entirely in stock trim with "factory" tires.
The GTR was driven by proffessional japanese driver Toshio Suzuki during its 7:29 run.
It was later re-tested with ultra-light, magnesium spec-V rims and "toss-away" sticky track slicks for a best run of 7:27.
I can only wonder what the outcome would be with a proffesional driver and a set of slicks on a ZR1 vette.

In Races Over seas, The Rain doesn't necessarily end the race. Big trouble for the Vette. advantage-skyline GTR
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
Possibly. With the monsterous torque output of the LS9, traction is definetly an issue with bad weather.
However, do take note... GT-1 races are seldom called off due to rain and the C6-R Vettes's have dominated reguardless. Its truly hard to say.

Power isn't pure engineering.
parichtang 2 years ago
Lets see....
lighter wieght body-wieght material, exotic alloy engine assembly, Computer controlled, pulse-width-modulated "magnetic" dampers, Lighter-wieght, higher-capacity brakes....
hmmmm..... not engineered huh? So tell me; how do "YOU" define engineering?
originaldriver 2 years ago
You are only using excuses to justify what you are doing to people on a regular basis - with all the ridiculing that is. Merely correcting errors? You have gotten so disdainfully ahead of yourself that you don't realize how boastful you sound anymore. It's nice that you can list these items, but all you need to do is read from websites that list those specs. Your main purpose was to patronize, not to correct. I wasn't trying to be biased because I am stupid. I did it to see how ppl would react.
parichtang 2 years ago
Those are all Technnololgy previously used by other people. There is nothing new on that list. Those where engineered by someone else.
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
You must an overconfident, pompous, arrogant "smart ass." All you do is go around thinking you are a smart ass and everyone else except you is stupid. Assuming that others are stupid doesn't prove anything except arrogance. If you think you're smart because you "research" by reading, then you're kidding yourself. There are many ways to prove intelligence - like actually going to buy a real ZR1 or GTR (not in video games) and doing real lab research - not calling others stupid.
parichtang 2 years ago
Dont be so "touchy". I was merely "correcting" errors and blatant discrepancies in some of the statements posted. (Musn't allow the general public to be mislead, you know.) Furthermore.... I will humbly retract any prior statements, IF you can dispute them with actual proof, and not "bias" speculation, that is
P.S. In the phrase, "you must an overconfident...", you forgot the word "be".
Corrected, it should state.. "You must BE an over-confident, pompous, arrogant, "smart-ass"....
originaldriver 2 years ago
Missing words don't need to be corrected. I pause a lot when I type and go do other things so the mistakes are there sometimes. If you are calling me biased, then you are also biased. I wanted to be biased to see how a ZR1 fanboy would react because all I see around here are domestic fans belittling GTR and GTR fans defending. Domestic fans respond with hostility and patronizing statements. You are here to bash other people because you are bored with life and feel the need to attack people.
parichtang 2 years ago
I wont deny the accusations...Im quite Biased. However, I wont bend the truth or intentionally misquote stats to push the arguement in my favor. I am sickened by The "Brain-washed" millions of ricer, "Paul-Walker" faithful who believe that American sports cars are good for a staight line and garbage otherwise. These people love to attack American engineering and but get "hurt" when "truth" attacks back.
P.S. I noticed that you havent come up with any facts to counter my prior statements.
originaldriver 2 years ago
It's not that I'm too much of a moron (like you think) to "counter" you. I realized long ago that with arrogant people like you who think they're always correct, it's only foolish and futile to try to argue. If you didn't want "the public to be mislead," those ZR1 fans/Japanese haters already are. Look at all the endless ways they come up with to attack GTR. I learned not to deal with people who think they're perfectly right all the time.
parichtang 2 years ago
As you continue to assume that I am a biased, brain washed dumbass, the world has grown to do other things than to brag about their brains on Youtube. You see I like the ZR1 as much as the GTR, honestly. I'm not "hurt" when "truth" attacks back. You are denying the fact that you are using this opportunity to personally insult me. If you want me to give you props for spending time reading about cars, that's not gonna happen. I will do so if you show me that you own a real ZR1/GTR.
parichtang 2 years ago

America Should Man up and Let the GTR Participate in American GT group A and see what happens LOL!!!
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
The C6R just got banned from the GT1 class because of its unquestioned dominance.
The vette can only race in the GT2 class now. This means that Aston Martin, Porche and Audi have some punishment comming thier way as well.
originaldriver 2 years ago
GTR is banned from both classes.
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
Since when?????
To the best of my recollection, the GTR has never raced in the American GT-1 or GT-2 class. Please correct me if Im wrong.
*Tee hee*... you arent making up things now.... are you?

They've never raced because they're type of car never qualified. Why else do you think the skyline nevere raced in america? Silly you...Wink*

I hate Paul walker. He's too pretty. But I was A Huge fan of the Supra, Rx-7, Skyline and NSX way before fast and the furious.
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
Bashing people and writing biased, hostile comments at the same time are not ways to prove intelligence or class. I doubt you would "humbly" retract any statements if I dispute. You see because no matter what I say, I sense that you will create excuses to justify your actions and bash me even more. It's ironic that you would call me biased because you are also biased. Just because you list things, doesn't mean you're playing fair, because you're still only listing ZR1 specs.

Please continue list.
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
Go back further and youll find out that Magnesium wheel were used by Ford formula-1 race cars in the 1960s. Youll also find out that Ford also was responsible for the "pent-roof" cylinder head design used by ALL moderen OHC engines today.
originaldriver 2 years ago
Mag wheels wheer used on production Vehicles making them more common hence coining the word "Mag wheels". Pent roof cylinderheads where designed after the hemi and are basicaly the same thing. one is a dome and one is a cone.
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
Chevy was the first to use "Forged Cranks" in thier 327 motors back in the 1960 for thier corvettes
and Rhetomagnetic shocks were first used in the early 1980s Corvette c-4s
And Chevy developed a de-stroked 302 engine in the late 1960's that was well capable of 10,000rpms and over 410hp by virtue of its specialty designed "cross-ram" Smokie Eunich intake and duel carbs.

The gearbox and AWD of the GTR are superior to the ZR1's manual. Gear changes are similar to the DKG of Audi/VW. There's no power letup during shifts that's why at low speeds the GTR can keep up with faster cars

Both are such awesome cars, but not too many cars can match the ZR1's brute power and performance.

To each his own, this Vette is the ZR-1 the "Big boy" the GTR has a big boy model too (spec-V) but not in the US as yet

this is so funny every single time, people who support japanese imports or other imports, every time they get beat, they use the excuse, "oh a six cylinder kept up with a 8 or 10 cylinder" or when they beat a stock american muscle car with their twin turbo 40 psi boost cars they say that proves theirs is faster, sounds like another word for ricers is hypocrite
TJComer02 2 years ago
The GTR is a car of street specs while ZR1 is a tuned out car with race specs. Nissan actually did involve extensive engineering when it designed GTR. All GM did was put a bigger engine on a super light car with world class brakes. GTR is a better pound for pound, bang for buck car. How many heavy 4-seaters with AWD and V6 engine of this price range do you know that can perform this well?
parichtang 2 years ago
Dont kid yourself.... Ther GTR was developed every bit as rigourously and track oriented as was the ZR1. They even proclaimed it so.
Its a case of tragic under-estimation.
originaldriver 2 years ago
I'm not kidding myself. I know the GTR was developed extensively. I wasn't saying that Nissan just burped it out. I was comparing the difference between their chassis. I was admiring how the GTR can perform so well for a heavy 4 seater, which proves that it was properly engineered. Why do so many people have these huge egos with them that prevents them from having normal conversations? I mean, do you have to add stuff like "Don't kid yourself," "You retard," etc?
parichtang 2 years ago
Actualy the CHevy guys have done everything the can to Deface the Japs because the Japs own the auto market. New and used. Chevy slander Honda with the MPG comercials involving Howie Long. "this chevy gets better MPG than this Honda!" Try to read the fine print in that comercial.... See what I'm sayin? "But there is one thing we can't compare to is this!"(honda Lawn Mower) Honda also makes a machine called the Honda CBR-RR(that's like one too many R's) Honda also makes Jet ski's!
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
Is it any less true. GM vehicles are currntly some of the most fuel efficient vehicles on the road.
They have the most fuel efficient Pick-up and SUV's around. They also have some o the most fuel efficient sub-compacts on the street today.
Even the Flag-ship Corvette ZR1 still makes 20mpg hyw with forced induction.
I am well aware of Honda's achievements and Im not going criticize them out of bias, but our domestic automive engineering is every bit as capable as ANYTHING from over seas.
originaldriver 2 years ago
Read the fine print and then get back to me.
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
Actually we brag when our 4bangers at 40 lbs of boost beat your muscle cars. And when a foreign 6 beats or keeps up with your 8's or 10's then we actualy see that as fair game. I would like to have a GTR for a race car and a stock Vette convertible for a daily driver. I like the Vette Cabriolet. (Cabriolet sounds so gay after the word vette)
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
I think you misunderstood me. I am a car fan. That means all cars. I am not just an american muscle guy, I appreciate all cars. I'm not a ricer.Basically that means that I don't like civics and cheap cars with mods. Now the GTR is a great car. I think the technology is awesome. a 0-60 time and a quarter mile time from a dead stop really isn't a way to compare STREET cars. Even raced a ferrari rolling that supposedly ran 12's? U see what I mean. The GTR=awesome but I have others i like more
TJComer02 2 years ago
The GTR is better to me it proves more to me 3.8 4 pass (heavy) VS, 6.0 2 pass super light,And it still holds its own with the odds against it,I cant wait till they see the spec-V lmao!!!
Nissannx2000svg 2 years ago
don't get me wrong, i'm not your enemy like some of the other muscle guys are, i would love to own a gtr for a daily driver, but all this fighting about pure performance, even though the gtr is a better car i'd rather have my viper for no holds barred performance, i'll give props to imports when they deserve it
TJComer02 2 years ago
sounds like a advertisment for the corvette...!
corvette has to be pushed to the limit to come up with better numbers than nissan... on the drag strip... GTR would win hands down as its easier to launch unlike corvette... you get one chance, if you get it right in the vette, you'll only keep up with nissan, but since you wont have the comfort of launching many times to get the right launch... reality is GTR would win !
haloaum 2 years ago
The ZR1 has traction control. It can't be launched wrong -- unless the traction control is turned off, as in the video.
hitssquad 2 years ago
TCS on the vette yeilds lower 1/4mile times. They had to turn it off in order to get those numbers. Vette with TCS turned on would go 0-60 in like 5.6. GTr cannot be launched wrong. it has Launch control. where you stand ond the brake with your left foot, mash the gas with your right, and when you let go of the brake you do consistent times.
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
*snicker*...And then proceed to break the GTR transmission while doing so..*pbbt!*
$12,000 repair with a voided warranty to boot....Beautiful.
originaldriver 2 years ago
Haha!! *Snicker* The launch control keeps the revs at around 4000rpm and the tranny has a very nice warranty. Did you think we where going to launch at 8000rpm? Read a Brochure every once in a while.
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
Thats nice, BUT your forgetting that was part of the revisions to the launch control AFTER 2009. Before then, the cars were busting trannies left and right
Maybe you need to read a TSB a bit more closely.
originaldriver 2 years ago
When was the R35 Debut? was it after 2009? we're talking R35's here right? and where do you get access to TSB's if you are not a tech that works for Nissan?

If you check the vid you will see we are all laughing @ you nissan owners.. Dont get me wrong it is a bad ass car but the only reason its fast is because it awd.......make that same vette w/awd and your talking under 3sec 0-60 So shut the fuck up.
theonedisclaimo 2 years ago
Make a vette with chevys all wheel drive technology and you'd only make things worse HAHAHA!! the Vette would be Garbage with all wheel drive LOL!!! ANd I don't think Nissan would let CHevy Borrow their attessa all wheel drive sytem. so Vette+ allwheel drive= Garbage.
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
You obviously dont have any prowess as an engineer do you. What exactly do you know about AWD vehicle telemetry?
Im cant sufficiently lecture any further on this simply due to the fact that I dont have the texting space to explain the function and use of wheel-speed "Hall-effects", Yaw, lateral and inertial type sensors that come into play for such systems.
And FYI, Ford and Chevy uses a similar system for stability control on thier AWD SUV's. "Attessa" is nothing new. Go read a book.
originaldriver 2 years ago
So can you design one from scratch with all electronic components working perfectly within six months for the debut of the GTR spec V? Attessa is not new it is 20 years old. But it is one of the only in the world that has fullpower to one wheel capabilities. Ford would probably be the one most likeley to rival it but they havn't. The Attessa system today is 10 times more active than it was in 89. And CHevy has nothing they could use to even come close to it. It's like an inch vs a mile.
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
I actualy said that the Vette would win in Sweeping turns and High speed straights.where it would have less weight and more horse power where traction would not be an issue.
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
Dont forget, the ZR1 also has nearly twice the braking power of the GTR, which translate to better entry speeds and better decelleration rates at the apex.
originaldriver 2 years ago
Well even with twice the Braking Power. it only beat the GTR by.3 seconds around Nurberg. there is something unexplainable at work here.

600hp+
whisperingprinze82 2 years ago
Its not the car, but the drivetrain that I was exhaulting.
The point that I was making is that the Chevy LS has the durable design and dependable nature needed to even permit a daily-drivable 2500hp car to even be built.
There are not a lot of motors on this planet that posses the versatility and ease of modification of the Chevy small-block. The engineering is bulletproof.
Mosler, Factory five racing, koenigssigg, Ultima and quite a few other kit-car makers chose chevy for that reason
originaldriver 2 years ago
I attack the Integrity of Chevy and you attack Mine? I don't beleive that is how a debate works. Attesa ET-s is far greater than just traction control and stability control. It is everything combined into one system and it is Fast Computing.Attesa ET-s has the ability to turn the rear wheels and put all the engines power into one wheel if necessary. I've noticed that the Tone of your comments have changed greatly, from very high and angry to low and passive. Have you conceded?

Yep...Isuzu designed the constant pressure common-rail injection system that was used to derive the Duramax engine.
Funny enough, the duramax is made of compressed graphite which makes it light enough for use in smaller street-cars.

They had swapped a GM built, non-intercooled Duramax Diesel V8 into the Mustang that your describing.
It was a pretty awsome machine. It took some awsome fabbing skills to get that swap done.
originaldriver 2 years ago
Idiot!!!!
-Bosch designed the common rail injection system, which is used on the Cummins, Duramax, and Powerstroke
-The Duramax is a iron block, Fords new "Scorpion" 6.7 diesel uses compacted graphite.
-The car your thinking about that was in Diesel Power is not a fox-body
Get your facts straight before you open your mouth.
raptor660cc1 2 years ago
Woaa... Calm down there sparky. Dont get tampon twisted. Its not like a slapped your grandma or something.
Ahem... I stand partially corrected. The duramax is indeed an Iron block motor. It was the ill-fated 4.5l that was to use a compacted graphite block. My mistake...
PS. Chill the fuck out.
originaldriver 2 years ago
ZR1 fans are scared. When their car beats GTR, they never talk about the price difference and the lack of engineering put into the Vette. Then when spec V will undoubtedly beat ZR1's ring time, they say, "Spec V is more expensive." GM can sell ZR1 for much cheaper than rival European super cars because they didn't put much engineering into it. All they did was put crap loads of HP and big brakes into a light car.
parichtang 2 years ago 2
As a fan of both cars, I would say that they're not scared. Neither are the GTR people. Each fan truly believes their cars are the best. The two cars couldn't be more different, so it's understandable why each person thinks theirs is better.
