"The title of the song's album, "Book of Silk", refers to an ancient Chinese text that connects natural catastrophes with the movement of comets across the sky. For guitarist Mark Orton, the tragedy was the death of his wife, Lauren, in a river-rafting accident, a few months before the recording of the album."
If you view the song in the light of that last fact, it becomes even more poignant...
btw who is singing?

@obesetyrese That's the sweet voice of Carla Kihlstedt, one of the band's members.

Quite a beautiful song. I get different meanings from this every time I hear it. It can be happy, melancholy, and hopeful, all at the same time.

my girl told me this one of her funeral songs. it makes me cry each time. not for just that, but also because of the lyrics. melancholy

Are there any more Songs by Tin Hat (Trio) with Vocals?
alibioftyrants 2 years ago
Willow Weep for Me
I don't think there are any more, at least without me going through them all.
However, the singer/violanist for this song has a few other bands.
Sleepytime Guerrila Museum
Charming Hostess
3 Foot Yard
3 Foot Yard is mostly vocal, but it doesn't have the same originality as Tin Hat in my opinion. It's not as folk-like as this.
