She was getting better. It was the years of starving that caught up with her. She did not abuse drugs so to speak-just laxatives. Her heart was too weak.

Karen Carpenter was addicted to laxatives for a time, but not at the end of her life. She had conquered her eating disorder, which makes her death even more tragic. She had decided to do the talk-show circuit and make her story public, but died before that happened. She wanted people to know anorexia could be cured.

RoyalStuart... I have to say this.. I have been a fan of the Carpenters for almost 15 years and I have taken the time to resreach Karen's life both professional and private.. She did not have a drug problem.. She never touched any hard drugs. Yes she abused laxatives but that is part of having an eating problem. Karen passed on because of the wieght she gained near the end of her life. Her heart couldn't take the added stress.. Thanks.

no karen did not she never ever touched ipecac . besides that hello some1 would have heard her throwing up and would have stopped her. besides when would she have had time to throw up with her scedule . i know the truth of what really happened to karen and the truth is she had a very fast heart attack because her heart was weak and it gave out on her .
