You were right until ssj8-ssj10. At ssj7 he has too much power and turns evil so then vegeta has to defeat him but Goku falls out of power and is now able to go to ssj7 whenever with out becoming evil again. At ssj7 he gets a black mark like majin vegeta had but I believe it is an S mark
