@ColonelCrane I appreciate the correction and the updates.Many present day actors lack the personal courage and fortitude to serve their country as those men did.As far as the Merchant Marine is concerned I feel those guys never got the recognition they deserved.Sailing the Atlantic was practically a suicide mission at the beginning of WW II.

A number of the actors in this movie were WW2 veterans:Lee Marvin US Army,Ernest Borgnine Gunners Mate 1st class US Navy,Charles Bronson Tail Gunner US Army Air Force.I am certain there were others but these are the ones I know for sure.

@Fennec2828 Actually Lee Marvin was in the Marine Corps and was wounded in the a** at Iwo Jima. Ernest Borgnine was honorably discharged from the United States Navy December 6th, 1941 and then he would re-enlisted into the U.S Navy on December 8th, 1941. Robert Ryan was a Drill Sergeant for the Marine Corps. Richard Jaeckel U.S Navy. Telly Savalas U.S Army. Clint Walker was in the Merchant Marines.

This movie glorifies the atrocities committed by the BLACK AND TANS in Ireland.

Just read up a bit more on Wikipedia about what The Tans did to us.

Then watch this dirty dozen crap and you will soon realize that ONE MAN'S TERRORIST IS ANOTHER MAN'S FREEDOM FIGHTER.

Klasse Film. Die Wildwest Version davon nennt sich "Die Höllenhunde" (The Deserter). Ebenfalls sehr zu empfehlen :-)) 5*****
