A lot of the events in the movie are parodies or spoofing of events that have happened during the Spice Girls' career.

This scene IS accurate - when the 5 of them first got together, they were true wannabes - they spent day and night practicing dance and singing, spent all hours of the day together and were poor as can be, gathering unemployment checks to make ends meet.
