  • I love the Muslim guy in pit. :) It really shows how diverse drum corps is.

  • @KonguAwesome IIRC, he was a Sikh. I marched Florida Wave that year.

  • My band is doing this for marching season this year! Top bass!

  • Wow. Back when drum corps played melody. Nice.

  • Sky was losing to Crossmen and Freelancers in 88, Dutch Boy had never lost to Crossmen all summer. Sky thought they'd end up in 14th or 15th and it seemed that DB was in for sure. Hmmmmmmmm..........

  • @banjotire

True, Crossmen beat us like three times...we went back and forth with Freelancers just about every other night. Dutch Boy and Sky Ryders did not meet until Semifinals. We just happened to have a good draw and a hot, hot performance after 6 days of cleaning.

  • @banjotire Having marched DB it was like fighting one another back then with the scroes. These corps can make any top 12 dci today with the show we had back then. Crossmen, Freelancers, Sk and DB it seems like it was all ways a fight between these corps with the scores. But DB was suppose to be in couple of years and they always hate on us because we were from Canada.

  • Center snare is super-hype.That drum line was so bad ass.

  • @multibuddhaneo My dad. xD

  • What ever happened to The Skyriders? I've just retired from the Navy after 24 years, spent a lot of time overseas, missed a hell of lot of Drum Corps over the years. I liked their sound and even the look! where are they now?

  • @oldschooldrumcorps they went bankrupt moved to texas and then went bankrupt again and that was the end of the sky ryders isaw this whole show on them on tv

  • Anybody know the drum major in this show?

  • @Boberube34 It was Brady Massey.....

  • Seriously? I didnt know my director was on youtube!

  • @Boberube34 dang blake...keep up with the times here!!!!

  • @TheDeltaMongoose that was 9 months ago... :P

  • My fave Ryders show. : )

  • This is great!!!

  • no he is not. chad stopped arching in 1987. i marched next to him in the snare line. i still talk to him often.

  • Did you march 1986? I marched 86 (tenors) and 84 (bass line)

  • The absolute best summer of my life, hands down. Even 20 years later... still think back fondly on this. Best to all the Sky 88 members!!

  • Does anyone know if Chad Sexton of 311 still marching with the snare line during this performance?

  • Wow! Thats ME!

Thank for sharing this I've been looking for a copy of this for YEARS!

Let me know how to get a high quality DVD.

  • The best time I have EVER had marching in this drumline!! Huey, how can I get a copy of "Sky Funk"?? Byron (Bass drumline section leader 85,88-90)

  • It's pretty funny that I have to find Byron and Huey on Youtube!!!

It's Al from '90-'91, bassline, you remember... 'the performers'!!

  • Lol my band director is the colorgaurd guy in the green jacket at 6:58.

And we're doing this show for next year.

  • mr. peistch or how ever you spell it like the fruit peach

  • drew? if it is hand wave its freshman go trumpets!

oh and anyway how much you wanna bet in two years 2011-2012 we will perform there 1989 show think 2 years ago westside 1987 westside

2 years later sound of music 1988 sound of music

  • I love this show but lets get "OZ" on you tube!

  • At the 4:35 mark, keep your eye on the black snare player. HE FREAKIN' ROCKS!!!!!!!!

  • Not the kind of show you would expect a DCI corps to do... but very VERY well done!

  • Did any of you guys march with Chad?

  • My sis was in the color guard in this show.

Man, I shoulda marched one more year. No mon no fun.

  • Hats off to you all from a Freelancer. 88 was a great year!

  • I played cyms that year...good times...

  • Oh, did you know Bryden Atwater?

  • I sure do and still do, we were roommates in college

  • Wow! He is my percussion instructor at Troy.

  • Tell him that HUEY says what up!!!!

  • Tell him that HUEY says what up!!!!

  • Will do. It's interesting. We play a cadence called "Huey's News". You know anything about that?

  • nope, dunno about that... are you marching Crossmen? Kris Hartman is a former roommate of mine as well..

  • Seriously? Wow. No, he actually cut me this past camp. Looks like I'm trying for Teal Sound instead.

  • Oh, by the way, I asked about that cadence and he said that it was either a variation on or tribute (or something) to a "311" cadence that you wrote out (I think that's right). Hey said he had to "show some love for ma' boy!". It's a really cool cadence, too. Grooves really well and it has the SkyFunk lick at the end.

  • Ferris on mellophone is unmistakable!!!

  • I was in 84 and 86 and loved both years! 9th place in 86 beating Phantom was AWESOME!!!!!

  • Sky Ryders 82,86,87,88 were my favorite years! Got any more videos?

  • haha I marched plates in that drumline....good times..

  • haha! Nice with the music notes!

    lovin "My Favorite Things"!

    awesome
