Thx! Well... it take a long time to explain, so I think you would learn more from tutorials, here on YT. Btw, I don't use masking, I use Chroma Keyer and I have several tutorials on my backup acoount))

Yeah, but in this case it was quite the opposite - Freckles gave me the list of certain movies, but agreed with my choice of the song=)

Yeah, it's Sony Vegas. To make circles like this you need three layers of one clip. One above the other. Then you cut two in parts and add cookie cutter effect to every part (circle shape). And it should grow from small to bigger one in each little part. And then you place all these parts as on a chess-board=) As for your other question it is the Chroma Keyer effect! Hope, it helps;)
