LOL at all the "armchair" blacksmiths commenting that don't even have any videos of themselves working at the craft. It always cracks me up, especially that troll firelord, put up or shut up :) ty
man the knife broke, but it did look like you were in a bit of a hurry since you didn't stop for one second but you were giving a demonstration so i guess its ok that you hurry because of the fact that audiences get bored quickly.
this guy is kinda amusing considering I bet hes just using mildsteel and that hes not taking a whole lot of care in the shaping of the blade. Prolly just wanted to show how metal can be molded with a hammer instead of making anything functional.
and so people dont criticize me I forge custom knives myself
Bingo! Its the Maryland Renaissance Festival and I know this blacksmith personally. As with most things at festivals it is more about showing process than actually making a quality piece. Quality takes time and that is something most spectators are not willing to stick around and wait for. Rurik is perfectly capable of crafting a damascus blade. I know he is.
this guy is probably just a blacksmith... not a bladesmith. he probably isnt even a blacksmith, just some guy they hired to pose for pictures and videos..
uhhh....if you know anything about forging which u probably don't. u would be able recognize that he actually does know what hes doing. it takes alot more than just hitting a hammer onto a hot piece of meta. but how would u know, u have never tried it.
It's probably just for show. Most people at a renaissance festival just stop by to see what all the weird 'ting ting ting' noise is. They have no clue what it actually takes to make a knife.
Fire, steel, banging heavy pieces of metal together....how can you go wrong?
@jackiekotch yes, because the dumpass hits to often the anvil. a fact for the unable stork smith. another lil poor us-american!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
looks more like the guy from harold and kumar goto white castle, the mechanic... but i dont know who Paco de Lucia is, anyway im at close to 4 mins and it looks like hes making a fish hook shaped spike, less than a min left and he is still making a fish hook
