Well first their jobs are different but in my opinion Army SF is way better. They can work in small groups or large groups. They are force multipliers and they have a group for every region of the world. They know the languages, cultures and Army SF are the masters of Unconventional Warfare. Small groups of SF were the ones that brought down the taliban & al qaeda from the mountains and also defeated several Iraqi divisions from the north and west of Iraq...not SEALs..

@redthreemike SF didnt get Osama, SF didn't have a 200:1 Kill Death Ratio in Vietnam, SF didn't go into Mogadishu, SF didn't do a lot of things that SEALs did. DEVGRU was named Seal Team 6, which are SEALs.

this whole argument about who is better is simply pointless. they are all elite, simply trained to specialize in different things...you need a hostage rescued DEVGRU or DELTA is your choice, train other spec ops and fight "gorilla" war army SF(green berets) are your choice, rescue a downed pilot PJs are your choice, call in CAS air strikes behind enemy lines CCTs, storm an air field deep in enemy territory Rangers or MARSOC, behind enemy lines recon SEALs .....all elite all deserve respect..

Green Berets are not better than SEALS. SF trains other countries SF forces and in war they train indigenous forces. SF commanders wait entire careers to lead men into combat. There are several groups dedicated to various regions in the world. SEALS have better chance to see action. DELTAS are the GOD of WAR. THEY are guarenteed to see action. They are the tip of the USSOC spear.

for anyone that is going to try to leave ANY comment here, please please please...GOOGLE some S#i+ before you look like an arse...the US Special Forces were officially indoctrinated into the US Army during the Vietnam War, (hence the school-house name), there is absolutely no relation, i repeat NONE WHAT-SO-EVER, to any British, Australian or the like "Commando" units...

They are completely seperate, the only unit in the British Army you could compare US Army Special Forces (Green Berets) to would be the SAS. The Royal Marine Commandos do wear a green beret, however it is just headgear for them.

No, SEALs are not special forces, they're Special Operations Forces. There's only one Special Forces in the US Military and that's the United States Army Special Forces. And they ain't no hat.

The Green Berets are NOT Commandos. That's a term used by the Brits/Commonwealth for units trained to crack hard targets. The Green Berets are counter insurgency experts/long range intel. What Flippys said below. And NO, Rambo wouldn't qualify on the grounds that he is a terrible communicator.

right the us green berets when in africa as u.s sf were training wiv 47 commando royal marines (now 45 commando)and they said "gee those green berets look really cool)thats how they got it .its not taking anything away from the green berets but lets get it straight they got it from the ROYAL MARINES :)

The US Army call their commandos the "Green Berets". But all personnel in the British army who pass commando selection wear a green beret. Same with Australian Commando units. Its because they all started in ww2 and began training and working together.

The Green Berets are very specialised and there main function is to set up and train allied forces in several different types of warfare ie. gorilla etc. They are expert in all weapon systems and highly educated most speaking several foreign languages and are familiar with the culture of the country they are operating. Teams usually consist of several highly trained specialist, such as medical, communications, ect. They are a very small elite group of men. I wouldn't really call them comandos.

Special forces troops tend to buy and wear what they want, so if they look a little irregular that's why. The uniforms may not look too hot, but the weapons and armor they're carrying are top of the line.
