Wow I think that SFTD and Rated R are my least favourite albums. Their Self titled is awesome and Era Vulgaris is close behind. the three that are between them are much closer to each other and I like lullabies better.
I am a huge qotsa fan, however I don't like anything post SFTD. This song is a great example, fucking amazing riff but they basically just give up on the chorus and just add in effects and layering. Maybe I'm just not getting it. Oh well I'll still see them live who am I kidding.
if you don't like their first 2 albums, you are not a huge qotsa fan. period. rated R has some of their best songs. how can a qotsa fan not love "i think i lost my fucking headache" and "the feel good hit of the summer."
It makes me happy that JPJ is doing this. A full-on Zep reunion sounds cool, until I think about how most bands that reunite sound, especially with new material.
Sure, I'm only a fan and don't know their lives, but I would rather see Zep remain gods that to make new stuff that wasn't nearly as good as their old stuff (how could it be?).
I think that is a good way to envision Homme and JPJ Zeppelin songs. Just picture walking somewhere you wanna be, or your "lady on the streets freak in the sheets" dancing really close to you.
As much as I love ths album it has me really worried about the future of the queens. I predict this band to be fucking huge so big that it might dwarf qotsa. Boo.
hrm can't see it. I don't think Josh would want to do that (hes got a load of side projects anyway, and none have 'replaced' queens) and I don't think Dave would want to break up the Foos.
Hopefully. But Joey's with EODM, Troy with sweethead, Dean is a permanent Dead weather member and Mikey Shoes is with Mini mansions. Foo's are gonna break up I reckon and JPJ is a free agent who i think would love to keep this trio going, so as much as I hate it there is a real good chance of no more queens which is a dying shame coz IMO they are the greatest band of all time.

I just wanted to make this perfectly clear, Alain Johannis and Josh Homme are quite alike in their QOTSA'y sound and sigh. im not being a dick im not really, but JPJ has probably littlest if anything to do with the overall sound, ill go as far to say as it was likely Josh just jammin over simple little compositions on JPJ's part if he didnt just tell him what he expected from him....so like, no this isnt one third josh homme....its like eighty to ninety percent him.....just so everyones clear
I think for all the ghrolites and jpj fans that hate on homme they should re evaluate that they are choosing to work with him so stop hating on homme he is easily over 1 third of the vultures driving force...
Well, liking this album is basically a thing that completely ruins the credibility of the "I hate Homme" argument, since the Homme-influence can be very, very clearly seen here. And I even am not a Homme fanboy (should listen to his works more, though), JPJ and Grohl are both awesome as well. A dream team, one could say. :P And yeah, awesome album, gotta buy it when it comes out.
Yeah, definitely not my favorite song on the S/T, but certainly dance-able.
I'll give Josh (who wrote most of the songs, he said in an NME interview) one thing: No matter how much he indulges in the "rock star" act, he's always trying something new. This sounds like nothing he's written, except the solo, which bears a superficial resemblance to the keys in Desert Sessions "Cake"...
Yep 30, I'm a burned out old asshole. I aint hip, and thats fine. When I was in my teens I wasn't hip either because Weezer, The Presidents of the United......, and shit like that was cool. I was Into Pantera, Rush, Slayer, and Zepplin, of course. Few bands have real staying power, and the radio stations here in Utah are simp as fuck, and wear out the good bands. Anyway today I'd rather hear QOTSA than Zep. I'd rather hear Akercocke than Slayer, or Porcupine Tree to Rush, so whatever.
@MegaDaldo I dont think anyone cares about you... goin on about how "un hip" you are... get over yourself.. im cool coz i say im cool and thats all that counts. get it?
Fuck yes, maybe JPJ can grab some well deserved time in the limelight. He has been overshadowed by the other dudes in that one overrated 70's band with the shitty vox. Josh and Dave are both the real deal and its time the mainstream world got a fucking clue about how bad it needs to douche. So here it is you pussies, applicator and all, self contained and springtime FRESH!

At the age of 9 I could play stairway note for note, solo and all. That was almost 21 years ago. Zepplin is overrated, they don't suck, but I am burned out completely on them. You suck and are easily entertained. You are completely out of your element. Suck a fart from my dick, or you can throat Mr. Plant like everyone else if you go for the androgynous type.
@MegaDaldo: Music is completely subjective. To give other people shit about what they like or don't like makes you look like an ignorant, know-it-all douchebag.
You are right, let me back up. LedZep are one of THE bands that pioneered modern rock and deserve their place in the upper echelons of music. The issue I have with them is they are one of many, and not the end all. They as a whole were greater than the sum of their parts, and J.P.J deserves more credit for his contributions.
I like the way you think. Kill today's popular music with a knife and let's hear bands with TALENT who won't make shitty music because it's safe and what the masses want to hear.
