@georgedlee101 Its pretty much the same way but if you wish I could try and make one in gimp that is like this for you inless by now you have figured it out just tell me and I'll redownload gimp and make you a tutorial for it.

I like to color my lines too, but thats not the technique I use :3 I personally think mine is less complicated. Gimp has it, im not sure bout PS. But, just press 'lock transparent ((er something like that)) and color directly on the lineart. It does the same thing, only coloring over color... Cept when its on a non transparent base or scanned pic :((

Make a new layer on top of what you want to color and set the layer to "color". Now pick a color and just start painting on the "color" layer.

how do the strokes stay inside of the image and they don't mess up anything around them? I would expect the red to be all over his face and the background and then I'd have to go back and erase all around the hat...

I just kind of wish that you could see the smaller words on the toolbar, so I know what you're clicking on to add the different colors and effects. X0

Also, at 8:54-9:20,, that's what I want to know how to do...maybe u have another vid that is a step-by step tutorial with more of the depth and shading with color....(did that make any sense??)

It *is* a pity about being unable to see the smaller words, but if you watch the video in High Quality and Full Screen, that might just help a bit!

I'm really working on making a shading video, some of my more recent ones have sprinklings of how I do it - I just find it embarassing...? To show how I shade! XD

I tried this but when i tried to put the original layer to "screen" it's locked or something and doesn't allow me to change the default settings.

How do I unlock it??

Ah, I know what the problem is here! Let me explain:

When you open an image in Photoshop and go to the Layers palette, you'll see the loaded image is on a layer with a 'locked' symbol beside it. Just hit Ctrl + J to make a copy of that layer. You'll see this new layer doesn't have the 'locked' symbol. You can now delete the original layer and work from this unlocked one - set it and any following layers to 'Screen', or whatever you wish.

If you intend to make a copy, and then delete the original locked layer you can simply unlock the layer by double clicking it and hitting enter.

Also you can zoom in by using the little touch slider things on the sides of your tablet (depending on what wacom you use~)

Oh, and you can change the size of your brush by spamming the brackets ( "[" smaller, "]" bigger) when in brush mode~
