Netbeans takes a beautifully simple programming language (Java) and turns it into an absolute night mare. Good GUI programmers can write UIs nearly as fast as others can with a GUI builders. But the resulting code is clean, easy to understand, debug, extend etc. So in the long run, much more progress is made without using a GUI builder. Netbeans is the most over-engineered pile of crap I have seen in 10 years of programming. Peace!

I think a it's contradictory to state a knowledge of such advanced programming skills that you know to use NetBeans IDE to create a GUI, but enough knowledge to perceive the name of this vid. Thanks for the vid and java messenger with the proper data security and protocols would make for an awesome tutorial series ;)

Sure hope there's something out there that teaches me how to use NetBeans GUI Builder in such a way that pieces don't keep slithering and expanding and shuffling and disappearing like Alice when she's ten feet tall. I guess people like the GUI bulider -- I'D like to be able to use it, but it's a damn wild horse. There must be some rules to the road for using it properly. THAT'S what I'd like to see a video about.

No offence but this really is weak. It teaches nothing, drawing the actual GUI is the easy bit - 3000+ people have watched this video wanting to know how to code a demo application with a GUI, not to watch two text areas and a button being put on a box.

@Riiye :yup gui builders sux!.A good java programmer can make GUI faster than this and maintaining GUI codes in gui builders are painful.

sorry but this is not a tutorial, it is a demonstration. This video does not teach people how to do something, it only states the obvious. Next time please go in depth with your videos, explaining more than just how to setup a Jpanel.

Please also keep in mind that if someone is interested in making GUI applications in Netbeans, they probably already have the IDE and at least some experience with java, i.e. showing them how to download the Netbeans IDE is simply a waste of time.
