@rhdk9 At the beggining you must give him treats, and when he grows up periodically replace them with praise.

... so the trainer is corrupting nothing here.

nice dog and training. im planning on getting a dog in the near future to do some protection sports with it. im pretty new to it i was told either a gsd or ds would be ideal for me because i would be new to the sport and not a malinois because the gsd and ds have a off switch. im not a novice when it comes to dogs. anybody. where can i find a quality breeder? im from chicago
