  • Heyy I have a question. Im new to the whole jet ski thing. What is that thing that you pulled up with the F and R? Is that needed to be pulled up to start? The part at 2:25

  • @xxdarkheartsxx Thats the forward and reverse lever. You dont need to pull it to start it but I usually start it in reverse so it doesnt take off

  • @chorstma44 Alright thanks. I have a jet ski that I tried to start. It just kept cranking over. But then I saw this video and saw how long you had to try and crank your first jet ski. My jet ski is a two cylinders. So ima try again next time im around it.

  • lmao, "you want to start it in the water, since its water cooled" no shit sherlock haha

  • @seansdoesntdoweed Not everybody knows that. This video is obviously intended for people who know nothing about jet skies and may be using one for the first time. You should really take multiple scenarios into consideration before blurting out your excrement on my video. Thanks!

  • On the get ski theresv plugs in the back to get the water out

  • I love how every comment here dissed the author. I actually found the video helpful. Now I know that I can crank for a long time and I won't be that bad off. :D

  • @ajcadoo I've been starting it this way for 10 years, it doesnt hurt it

  • yuor not suppost to sit there and hold the start button after about 2 or 3 cranks left off then do it again again and again till it starts your gonna flood it and burn up the starter idiot

  • @NoModzJustSkillz If you insist on calling someone an idiot, you should probably correct "yuor" spelling before you post a comment. HAHAHAHA!!! xD

  • is the ultra lx a 3 seater?

  • o. wats your top speeed. 55 mph??

  • wat year is your sts?

  • @201andrew 2002

  • My old 1991 wave runner starts better than that you should never have that much water in it. You clearly don't know what your doing

  • no offense to you bud, but if you dont really have a complete concept of what youre doing, dont make the video

  • Your going to be replacing your starters pretty soon if you work them that hard lol. You should try 10 seconds max then let them cool down for about 20 secs.

  • Sounds like your running very rich

  • well, on the 2 stroke...it stalls when you give it gas because you had the choke on. Took forever to start after, because the choke was still on.

  • learn how to start a sit down hope your starter goes out soon my superstock yamaha superjet starts faster than both those fag couches ANY QUEER CAN SIT AND STEER STAND UP AND RIDE

  • Is it still hard to start??

  • Hey mate one thing that i do with mine when cold is feather the gas as well as having the choke out.

  • @hambone11112 I figured that out. It doesnt like to start with any throttle, but if I crank it for 5 seconds with full throttle to get the gas flowing, then crank it with no throttle and it starts right up. I think the reason it took so long to start is because it had to pump the gas all the way from the tank

  • You know nothing about your skis! Kawa 900 2 STROKE!!!! the other 4 STROKE! Not cycle!! As for water in the bay you need to drain them buy removing the plugs and get it out the water! You shouldn't have that much water in anyways even if your diving them underwater!! Also save your battery on the 900 get a primer kit, it also sounds like a bag of hammers even with the seat on Ha ha!!

  • @ponty007 First off, at any point in the video did I claim to be a marine technician? And why do you people insist on leaving snotty comments. You do know you have a choice between leaving useful input and being a dick, you do know that right? And the jet ski is 10 years old with over 5 thousand hours on it. Its not going to purr like a brand new one. Its actually a really reliable jet ski. In the 10 years of use and abuse, its only needed a new bearing.

  • @ponty007 i agree, he doesnt completely understand it, but the reason its so loud is also cause of how far it is out of the water

  • how much was ur blue kawi ?

  • @2manreds around 12 grand

  • @chorstma44 oh ok , did you sell it ?

  • Holy crap it has to spin to 10,000 rpm first! Lol just kidding, good video

  • when do you start to ride them

  • i just bought a 99 zxi 1100 and is it a good ski

  • Lol don't do this with an old person nearby becaus then you'll get the "DON'T FLOOD IT!!! DON'T FLOOD IT!!!!! UR GONNA FLOOD IT!!!

  • i have a Yamaha xlt 800 and it doesnt have a problem starting but it does smoke quit a bit in reverse. how can you stall a watercraft since it has no gears?

    Thanks good video

  • @supercuber29 Thanks. And old 2 cycle engines are very temperamental. You have to let them warm up first and ease off the choke. If you give it any gas right after you start it up, it will stall. Same thing with a weed whipper. Old cold 2 cycle engines barely run when cold.

  • @supercuber29 its stalls when the engine is cold and u rev up the engine, going backwards, ur always gunna have smoke because its a 2 cycle. and ure goin backwards, u need 2 let it warm up for like 1 min. if u dont, and ure gunna rev it up, its just gunna turn of which means its gunna stall

  • Geez, my 1991 seadoo gt starts in 5 seconds cold in any weather, doesnt matter how long it sits. ride the choke a bit, and she'll pop right up on plane.

  • Kawasaki sucks at making jetski's. But they are good at dirt-bikes.

  • arent there to little black plugs in the back to drain the engine compartment..

  • look up Start SPYJET FNB 001 and tell me that, that is slow then bahaha.

  • @93yota93lude Lol. Im not saying there arent fast ones. But the majority of them I see are going 15 mph and sit down ones go at least 60

  • Stnad ups FTW

  • @93yota93lude those are slow. Im still going to buy one though

  • @chorstma44 actually you can get them to go pretty fast not many ppl can ride them so i like them more they are more of a challenge plus just so much more fun and ppl are not standing on the beach asking for a turn hahaha i love my 2010 800 sx-r got it last week so happy with it so far sold my 92 650sx

  • (2 stroke) um wow. much easier to turn the choke on all the way and hold the throtlle all the way open. when it first fires let go of the start button. turn off the choke and hold the trottle open and it will start right up and run...even idle wow. takes only about 10 seconds even in the water. WAY TO GO ON THE BAD ADVICE!!!

  • @saleenandlance Not everybodys jet skies are like yours you dumbass. Ive owned the red one for 8 years. You think I dont know the best way to start it? I tried that method many times and with the red one all it does id flood it if you even touch the gas at all or it will not start no matter how hard you try. So I suggest you leave a better comment or shut the fuck up you ignorant asshole!

  • ur such a jack ass

  • @flashes94 How so?

  • i have a 1999 kawasaki stx 1100 and it starts up just fine within 5 seconds and i can give it gas instantly and also your jet ski is only a 900cc and most jetskis now hav 4 cylinders anything older than 2005 would most likely hav a 2 cylinder

  • I have a kawasaki Ultra 150 that i just bought. it starts up fine but once it cools down and i try to start it up again it gives me a hard time. Is that normal?

  • @TraviesoFilmz Do you know what engine is in it? 2 cycle or 4 stroke?

  • @chorstma44 its a 2 cycle 1200cc

  • @TraviesoFilmz Well thats not normal. Once warm, a 2 cycle is about 10 times easier to start. Check for wet ignition wires, and especially the exhaust. A bolt snapped on my manifold and it was leaking and it made a huge difference when I replaced it

  • @chorstma44 ok cool. i will check it out. Thanks a million!!

  • @TraviesoFilmz No problem. One other thing you will wan to check is the fuel filter. It should be clean, but if it clogs, then the restriction of gas can cause poor performance

  • @austinman1995 Because it doesnt help. It just floods the engine

  • You can just pull the plug out of the back of the jet ski, to empty the water out of the engine compartment. You do not need a sponge.

  • Thanks. I noticed a few years ago it had that plug. It has been in there for such a long time that it might crack if I attempt to open it. I dont mind using the sponge though. Plus I think next year im going to install a bilge system which will make it effortless to empty.

  • Thanks for the advice! I really want to get the purchase part over with so I can focus on all the fun I'm gonna have on it this summer at the lake.

  • It is a blast to have. The brands I have named off are great and reliable. Jet skiing is very fun. I spend at least an hour a day on it in the summer. I have had mine for 8 years and it has been through a lot of use and still works like new. Im sure you will enjoy it. Just be careful of shallow areas of the water. Allow at least 2 feet of clearance before starting it up. If you suck up a rock or other object, then you have to take the impeller apart to retrieve it. I have done it 3 times. lol

  • I am mostly looking (cautiously and carefully, of course) at used ones just to save some money over a brand new pwc.

  • Ok. Well when looking at used ones, Seadoo, yamaha, kawasaki are the leading jet ski brands. Find out how many hours are on it, when it has been last serviced, and when the wear ring was last replaced. Have them start it for you. If it is a 2 cycle jet ski, dont be terrified if it takes a couple minutes of cranking to get it to fire. They smoke a lot especially when you start them up so ignore that. And inspect the hull for cracks or chips. An abused jet ski will have chips, scuffs, and cracks.

  • Those kawasakis look like nice skis. I am currently in the market for a pwc myself but I am still unsure whether I should get a seadoo or another brand. What lake are you on?

  • Seadoo is a good brand. I have always had kawasaki products and they have all prooved themselves reliable. Are you getting them new or used?

  • HEKTiccc video!

  • i have a 2 cylce jetski but mine i have to put competly in the water cause my gears broke so i only have forward

  • Gotta love them 2 cycles! I dont think you have any broken gears. A jet ski has a intake on the bottom and it is powered by a propeller inside the impeller which is hooked directly to the engine. The water always comes out in one direction. When you shift into reverse, A metal shield covers the jet on the end and it re-directs the water flow which pulls the jet ski into reverse. To me it sounds like you are missing the shield or the control shaft is broken or disconnected. Its an easy fix.

  • that 4 stroke one sounds like my dad's honda accord at idle (at engine). I like 2 stroke marine engines the best no matter how much smoke or noise.

  • lol. It actually is about the same engine in a honda. I still like the 2 cycle engines better too. They are louder, more powerful, and lighter. The 4 cycle is so heavy its hard to keep it from tipping over when its not moving

  • also all 2 strokes smoke naturally

  • Yeah. This time it was smoking a little more than usual because I was giving it throttle and the choke was still out

  • my 1989 kawi 650sx starts on the first crank. i highly recommend a primer. and in the manual for my jet ski it says not to crank it for more then 5 seconds at at time

  • wow that red one is a pain in the ass

  • lol. It is. I put new plugs in it which helped a little bit but its still an old 2 cycle engine so it doesnt like to start

  • yea

  • There is no whistle in it

  • why do u have to put the wistle in the blue one

  • Whistle?

  • Comment removed

  • damn you got issues with that red one.

  • Well , the red one doesnt have issues. Its 7 years old and probably has over 1000 hours on it. It starts about the same as it did when we got it.

  • u have issues starting the red one.

  • If it has a bilge then there will be a switch to turn it on and off. While you are riding, if it is pumping water out the side that is the water coming from the engine because jet skies are water cooled. It pumps the water out the side as the engine runs.

  • but we do donuts and alot of other stunts and we never get water in them so they got to have something!

  • some jet skies are different but i use mine for hours each day. I do sharp doughnuts with full throttle and half of the jet ski is underwater andgo through a big wave. It all depends on what you do. I thnk the reason there is no bilge is because a lot of people will be stupid and run it as they are riding and it will burn out the motor. You can only use a bilge if there is enough water and if you are sitting still.

  • That is weird in our Yamaha jet skis they both have bilge pumps and their 20 years old!

  • Really? Wow. I have always owned kawasaki jet skies and i didnt think that they put bilge pumps in jet skies because ive never seen one in a jet ski. I dont know why kawasaki didnt put them in their jet skies but it would be a good idea. Or i might just install one myself.

  • yah when your riding it pumps the water out of the sides in front its cool

  • Sure thing. Need anything else just let me know. Have fun on your jet ski!

  • thanks helped me alot
