AOE is my favourite game to play and to tell you online is not really hared it just they dont want to play if you play whit some one how relly want's to play it will go on for ever i had one for 02:00AM - 04:00AM we gave time to do our stuff and then the war was back is it awesome

i was an addict to the aoe series, then the total war series came out and i was a total addict to that, so i didnt really play the aoe series that much.

HeirofCarthage, I don't know who your playing with online, but 3 musketeers is not enough to do anything.

You should be getting an outpost to protect ur villagers, and you should also be able to get a small army by using your cards in your deck.

As a noob, I tried playing online, and it was quite fun, not anything like what you said about no big fights, and just militia vs villagers. I had many big fights with armies of 100-150 men.

well they are two totally different types of games. ETW's main focus is on having large scale battles and managing your troops in combat. AoEIII is more about building settlements and is more traditional in terms of strategy games.

IF you do want to play online, don't gather any wood until you age up so you can ageup faster...its the same as gathering wood after u click as before except you adfance earlier.

My experience for online play is also lame, whenever I played a game my opponent would build A LOT of walls very quickly and bring a huge army from who knows where and destroy everything. Although it's fun to play online if I don't count over 1 hour long games.

AoE II was pretty much awesome. I bought it the day it came out.

Looks fun (I totally missed III since I pretty much stopped gaming)

I played the 1st AoE and also Age of Kings, so I think it will be fun to pick this up again :)

Oh, only 2 things:

The panel at the bottom looks pretty big (esp since I have 16:9 monitor, I think it was not that common when this game came out...)

Also, I heard that you somehow magically get your wood whenever you send somebody into the woods...sounds a bit lame

Anyway, I think Imma enjoy playing this, thnx for showing :)

I am not sure about the magic wood thing. The panel looks big for two reasons I think. One is it probably was designed for 4:3 instead of 16:9. Also I didn't have the game resolution set to 1280x720 but I saved the video as 720p. So it distorts it a little. I have fixed this problem in my more recent videos.

Ok, just played the 2 tutorials today

It's not just the wood, but every resource

They completely removed the need to make special buildings where the resources are gathered and then taken back to the towncenter...maybe to focus more on other things

What I dont get is the lack of good controls for your military units (since this is a big part of the game, it's even worse than earlier episodes of AoE...!)

I figured out that you can go into the settings and choose something like "mini UI" :-)

You dont get wood magically, you gather it like you do every other resource

The wood you dont need to make any building (let alone any processing building) to gather wood, you just send somebody into the woods and "magically" his chopped wood arrives at your town center :P

That's what I heard and yes, it's true.

I know AoE is not like Settlers and focuses more on combat, but still...(in previous versions you at least had to build 1 building to collect the wood)

Multiplayer AoE3 was all about rushing and making random bases in the middle of the map. Very intense but not too fun imo.

this game looks fun but i think total war games are the better way. this game is more focused on the building aspect it seems and not so much military
