Reading through his book "Why I Fight" right now. Just got done reading about this match. To be able to watch it and get a visual image of what I just read is pretty sweet.
Bj is a prodigy, byt most people get 8 hours of mat time a week, bj Penn was on the mat 8 hours a day 6 days a week. Instead of going to school he bought a place next to Ralph Gracie academy. In three years he got the equivalent to the average persons twelve years. Yes he is a prodigy but in three years he had a ton of mat time.

I don't know if he ever did Mundials but he did give ADCC a try back in 2005 and did well at the Japan qualifiers. You see the problem with competing in Jits is that you got to live in the Western hemisphere to get the best access to good competition; if not than your spending an arm and a leg just to travel. Imagine living in Brazil, surfing in the morning, BJJ in the afternoon and samba at night; damn that would be sweet.

BJ is a great fighter, but he took GSP too lightly and he's not as focused as he should be. He has God giving talent but that talent must be honed and never taken for granted.
BJ is another example of an individual that knows what to do at all times regardless of position. MMA pays the bills, but I would love to see BJ up against Garcia at the 2008 Mundials. BJ is another example of an individual that knows what to do at all times regardless of position. MMA pays the bills, but I would love to see BJ up against Garcia at the 2008 Mundials.
