lol at first i was like waaaaaat....... then i was ooooooooooo :D although personally i found it kinda silly since i can see it but i really love this idea! :] gj Disney always being considerate of everyone who may visit :D
@fluffythumper5 The Disney parks (Disneyland and Disney World at least) now offer headphones, I guess, for parks guests that are blind or have some sort of impaired vision. The video was just giving you a sample of how they describe the ride... could you imagine not being able to see Disney? *shivers* Thank God I'm healthy.
People tend to only listen to the audio description in one ear, so that they can still hear the attraction. This is a wonderful service to the blind, and I don't think they are super picky about the voice not being scary.
The same device can to hand-held captioning for the deaf!
It's great that they now have narrated audio, but it could have been better. It should have a creepy voice like Paul Frees's version and not with a girl sounding like "Why am I here?"
They need a better narrator to set the mood...preferably a Paul Frees sound-alike (Cory Burton) to keep with the theme of the attraction. This sounds so lame, why even bother?
But they don't get to actually hear what's going on around them if they have headphones in. Hearing things is half of the experience! Unless they have like...a back track with the ride experience playing behind the lady describing everything...
@USC4ever46 I've gotta say that hearing things is less than half the experience at Disney parks. You really have to use all your senses... maybe not smell on the Haunted Mansion, but you even use your sense of touch. The doom buggy's shudder at times during the tour of the mansion as if something is moving it *Tower of Terror music plays*. They really try to think of everything to immerse you into a certain world.
Some blind people probably been blind all their life they don't even know what things are or look like because they never seen anything. So the narrating voice can be pointless.
@briancalifornia1 not really cos they can imagine, its like reading a book and reading about something youve never heard of before so you imagine what it could look like
It does make you consider what the experience is like for a blind person though.. Do blind people get scared of ghosts, I guess not. That first room where the narrator tells you there's no way out must be pretty freaky too. Then, if you were an intelligent ghost, what would the reaction be to a blind person you couldn't scare? lol
It's like listening to a spooky story! :)

they should have the ghost voice tell the story of how the haunted mansion came to be during the ride. That'd be pretty sweet.

Her voice.... I cant tell is she is decribing the haunted mansion, or narating a Read-a-long children's book.
uh...I'm sorry, but this is Fail. Its a Nice idea though. But the voice doesnt set the mood.

That's pretty neat. Go Disney.
But will it be distracting to others? Is it sent through headphones?
