Secondly, it has a literal translation which is the fact that white kids have unlimited options when it comes to how they dress, present, and express themselves. They can wear whatever they want without hardly any ridicule, but society makes black kids feel they have to act and dress a certain way. And it's not only society, it's other black kids who look down upon and judge another black kid for wearing clothes that do not fit the "black dress code" so to speak. Gambino's music is amazing!

Any one who says that Gambino is being racist in his songs is so ignorant. "White kids get to wear whatever hat they want, when it comes to black kids one size fits all". This line really has a double meaning. First off it's a metaphor for the fact that society as a whole expects black people to act a certain way which is "hood", "hard" or whatever else you want to call it, while white people can adopt whichever persona they want without being looked at strangely.

@Ibra8films Not racist, just sharing his experiences with White people and even Black people. Glover grew up Black middle class which is thought of in the Black community as "living White". I've listened to his lyrics and he is angry at both races and tries hard to be harder than his comedic persona. Also my good friend, minorities can't be racist, prejudiced (most definitely), but not racist. Racism is having power over a people and in America, that will not happen. Take care and read up.

@leeberry3 you clearly do not understand the difference between being prejudice and racism. maybe you should read up before trying to act smart. racism is the hatred or intolerance of another race. prejudice is an unfavorable opinion of a group (religious, racial, national) that is preconceived without knowledge. so saying that if you are a minority, you can't be racist, is wrong. They have whole semester long college courses on minority racism. Take care and YOU read up.
