The original protest wasn't about monopolies, it was about taxation without representation. Tea was heavily taxed, and yes they had to buy their tea from the East India Co as sanctioned by the Crown. But it was unfair and heavy taxation they protested. And it is the same today with the current Tea Party.

I am not fan of the tea party. I used to support it, but it has turned republican and I am an Independent. It is completely unproductive to just yell racism at the tea party. People forget how the movement started. It started with a small group of independents who wanted some bankers thrown in prison. Late 08 early 09 was not just the election of the first black president. There were unprecedented gov bailouts, stimulus, unemployment etc. To say they are just racist is a way to avoid the issues.

They talked about how China is in a rough shape both socially and economically by lying to the audiences that the percentage of equality between rich and poor in America is 66% to 34% vs. 1% to 99% in China. They just simply made up the numbers.

The original protest wasn't about monopolies, it was about taxation without representation. Tea was heavily taxed, and yes they had to buy their tea from the East India Co as sanctioned by the Crown. Incidentally, If my memory serves me correctly, the term "tea bagger" was a slip up by a republican that meant to say "tea partier". The clip was then picked up by jon stewart, and especially bill maher...who were so amused with the slip up that they wouldnt let the "nickname" die. This was a gift to them and they ran with it, and made it stick by using the term as much as possible to refer to them. these same tactics are used to describe "obamacare" & "deathpanels" from the other side.

for people who arent racist and dont see racist (because they dont keep those kind or people around them), they dont see themselves as racist. They are calling the entire tea party racist. even if ONCE IN A WHILE they say "its not all of them, just some". Your putting it into peoples heads and your driving it in ever time. Most conservatives are republican and they didn't want to go out and protest their own party. IMHO, that is a very stupid mentality. Your party is going to listen to you, not the other side. So if you approve of everything they do, they will do everything.

I am not fan of the tea party. I used to support it, but it has turned republican and I am an Independent. It is completely unproductive to just yell racism at the tea party. People forget how the movement started. It started with a small group of independents who wanted some bankers thrown in prison. Late 08 early 09 was not just the election of the first black president. There were unprecedented gov bailouts, stimulus, unemployment etc. To say they are just racist is a way to avoid the issues.
