@thatNESfan True Mayor Pike was better but he allso butted heads with Andy. just not as much as this new Mayor did. I loved the Cow Thief Episode because Andy proved his small town ways of thinking to the new Mayor was better then big city police ways of thinking.

d'ya ever notice how we never see Juanita, yet it's obvious how Barney is totally hittin' it! This show, for being small town, was very cutting edge. Andy Taylor is by far the best TV dad ever! just watch the opening theme song, walking down a country road taking his son fishing, gives him praise for the stone throw, holding his hand! great stuff.

the reason Andy didn't have a gun, is 'cause he felt it was too heavy. so he told the producers he didn't want it.
