Some of those commercials are local and I've never heard of them. The two I remember the most is the Mr. Coffee commercial and Ricardo Montelban doing the LeBaron commercials.
That KTVU Station ID is very nice. For some reason I now want that really out-dated Fisher Audio Video System. It looks awesome. They should bring back Polaroid, if they don't then they're gonna die. The La Petite Boulangerie is fantabulous. Easily the most fantabulous thing I've seen in the last half-hour.
RM: The Chrysler Le Baron GTS, it will leave you as it has left me, as it left her. marooned for all eternity in the center of a dead planet, buried alive...buried alive...
They had such great specials in the 80s'... movie specials, sunday specials, saturday morning, and afterschool specials. I wish they still had them. *sigh*
Wow, I had some of those picture-records, they still remain one of my favorite Christmas present memories. They were Cinderella and the Fox & the Hound! Wish I still had those!
I just got "my side of the mountain" the book, and without watching that promo I would have never got the book from it. I learned there was a book about it when i looked it up on wikipedia.
I remember the tail end of KTVU before they became a Fox affiliate (though that was years after this vid)...can't say I was always enthralled by their stuff, but I appreciated the movies they showed :) nowadays, local stations don't seem to try very hard since networks provide most of their programming and so their budgets aren't very big (though KRON 4 does seem to be making an effort). but yeah, great vid!
December 21st, that's my b-day. I turned 11 that year. I remember the Mr. Coffee commercial, the Toy's R Us commercial and the car commercial with the guy from Fantasy Island! My parents had the Fisher stereo system, great sound for back then. I also enjoy watching retro commercials. It's better than watching crappy reality TV or the other garbage that they show today.
Last minute Christmas shopping consists of running to the mall and grabbing whatever you can, doesn't matter if it's dog food, as long as you can wrap it and give it; it's the thought that matters anyway. :P
As soon as my cousin gets back from Iraq, I'm handing him a stick of butter. Also - 8:47 OH MY GOD GIRL LOOK OUT OH FUCK THAT CLOWN JUST MOVED GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE.

You could probably get that Fisher Audio/Video system for about $100 now. Except the turntable. That's probably about $400.

what? i don't understand.
1986Sheri 1 year ago
It's a famous line uttered by William Shatner in "Star Trek 2: The Wrath Of Kahn", where Montalban played the villain named...Kahn.
BTW, Ricardo Montalban was a pretty big star even before his huge role as Mr. Roarke on the 70's TV Show "Fantasy Island".
EVERY child of the 80's should know who he is.

@80sCommercialVault He was also in 2 of the Planet of the Apes sequals.

I wonder if CNN looks and sounds good on that Fisher Audio/Video System.
Also I thought they would say the movie playing was Apocalypse Now rather than A Pocketful Of Miracles.
