  • Some of those commercials are local and I've never heard of them. The two I remember the most is the Mr. Coffee commercial and Ricardo Montelban doing the LeBaron commercials.

  • What was the movie special?

  • damn, look at that BIZ logo!

  • That KTVU Station ID is very nice. For some reason I now want that really out-dated Fisher Audio Video System. It looks awesome. They should bring back Polaroid, if they don't then they're gonna die. The La Petite Boulangerie is fantabulous. Easily the most fantabulous thing I've seen in the last half-hour.

  • You could probably get that Fisher Audio/Video system for about $100 now. Except the turntable. That's probably about $400.

  • 7:12 And now, ba-eh, ooh.

  • Miners are dead and someone has been stricken with radioactivity and now a word from a sponsor: Bread.

  • joltin joe dimaggio uses coffee

  • let him have his stupid butter...

  • I"m watching a pocketful of miracles...on 80sCommercialVault. :)

  • Fischer audio video system created by..... GODDDDD

  • The Fisher Audio-Video System. It will crush the Rebellion once and for all.

  • RM: The Chrysler Le Baron GTS, it will leave you as it has left me, as it left her. marooned for all eternity in the center of a dead planet, buried alive...buried alive...

  • Wow those commercials were WORDY. I guess back then people had longer attention spans. James Earl Jones at 2:30. I grew up watching channel 2 thanks.

  • those ads from the 80s brings so many memories when i was a kid and everything looked so simple back then.the 80s was the best decade

  • December 21st, 1984-the day Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo came out!

  • That dude is stoked about Butter

  • Ricardo Montalban? Where's the RIIIIICH CORINTHIAN LEATHER?!

There's only one 2? OK that's a kinda cheesy slogan!!!!

  • 4:32 Oh La Petite Boulangerie! They used to have chocolate filled croisants, those were awesome.

  • Am I the only one that thinks that the soundless Movie Special bumper at 7:05 is creepy?

  • They had such great specials in the 80s'... movie specials, sunday specials, saturday morning, and afterschool specials. I wish they still had them. *sigh*

  • The commercials for Emporium-Capwell and Mervyn's give me big-time Bay Area kid nostalgia.

  • i always thought the food was cold in those butter commercials because the butter did not melt.

  • 8:47 Nightmare time!!

Wow, I had some of those picture-records, they still remain one of my favorite Christmas present memories. They were Cinderella and the Fox & the Hound! Wish I still had those!

  • Ricardo Montalban for Chrysler LeBaron GTS...Very Cool!

  • I see Lindsay Price in that Toys 'R Us commercial too!

  • R.I.P. Emporium-Capwell, too! I think there was one at Fashion Island? Or was it Tanforan?

  • I just got "my side of the mountain" the book, and without watching that promo I would have never got the book from it. I learned there was a book about it when i looked it up on wikipedia.

  • @coolmack24 We read that book in middle school. I liked it. I also liked Hatchet.

I may have to see if netflix has the my side of the mountain movie.

  • I remember the tail end of KTVU before they became a Fox affiliate (though that was years after this vid)...can't say I was always enthralled by their stuff, but I appreciated the movies they showed :) nowadays, local stations don't seem to try very hard since networks provide most of their programming and so their budgets aren't very big (though KRON 4 does seem to be making an effort). but yeah, great vid!

  • I remember that Christmas..I was 7 and was VERY sick with some sort of flu bug right before Christmas

  • I love the animation and music for KTVU Movie Special bumpers and the commercials for the Fisher Audio Video System and Chrysler Lebaron GTS. :)

  • pretty sweet sound system

  • Thanks for posting the KTVU stuff. My favorite station growing up. Keep 'em coming if you can.

  • WOAH!! Jenny Lewis -AND- Urkel in the same TRU commercial?!

LOL - I actually had that smurf radio as a kid.

  • December 21st, that's my b-day. I turned 11 that year. I remember the Mr. Coffee commercial, the Toy's R Us commercial and the car commercial with the guy from Fantasy Island! My parents had the Fisher stereo system, great sound for back then. I also enjoy watching retro commercials. It's better than watching crappy reality TV or the other garbage that they show today.

  • yeah i agree with you!!

R.I.P. Joe DiMaggio, Mervyn's, Michael Jackson, and memorable good times!!

  • @BoogsterSU Also,R.I.P. Ricardo Montalban!

  • @TeamEdward1976

    who's Ricardo Montalban?

  • KAHHHNNNN!!!

  • @80sCommercialVault

    what? i don't understand.

  • It's a famous line uttered by William Shatner in "Star Trek 2: The Wrath Of Kahn", where Montalban played the villain named...Kahn.

BTW, Ricardo Montalban was a pretty big star even before his huge role as Mr. Roarke on the 70's TV Show "Fantasy Island".

EVERY child of the 80's should know who he is.

  • @80sCommercialVault He was also in 2 of the Planet of the Apes sequals.

  • the emporium capwell commercial showing the lingerie sale...I would slap my husband if he bought me a girdle for christmas.

  • Last minute Christmas shopping consists of running to the mall and grabbing whatever you can, doesn't matter if it's dog food, as long as you can wrap it and give it; it's the thought that matters anyway. :P

  • Jaleel looked so cute at that age.

  • I wonder if CNN looks and sounds good on that Fisher Audio/Video System.

Also I thought they would say the movie playing was Apocalypse Now rather than A Pocketful Of Miracles.

  • "America is coming home to the good taste of butter"?

    Wow, okay then...

"My Side Of The Mountain" sounds really familiar. One of my teachers may have read that as well.

  • OMG! This was playing on the day of my birthday, 25 yars ago? I loved watching KTVU all the time. Thanks for the memories. =)

  • the bread at la petite boulangrie looks tasty mmmmm

  • That news brief was a bit unsettling. Radiation poisoning from radioactive water. :(

  • As soon as my cousin gets back from Iraq, I'm handing him a stick of butter. Also - 8:47 OH MY GOD GIRL LOOK OUT OH FUCK THAT CLOWN JUST MOVED GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE.

  • I can't wait until we get to Vol. 100!

  • I'm just glad that I am not the only person out there that enjoys watching old commercials and looking for ones that I remember!

  • @morganpitner I used to think I was the only one! :) I'm so glad youtube makes it possible to feel nostalgic again.

  • lol at the beginning "sghetti" lol i used to say it like that
